Dog-friendly garden café by the train tracks in Paju: On the Rail
In short
On the Rail is a large café in Munsan, Paju, right along the Gyeongui-Jungang Line train tracks. The writer paired an americano with earl grey pound cake and train-shaped cookies, explored the wide outdoor garden and a Ghibli-style photo zone, and found the outdoor area dog-friendly. It's the kind of spot that suits a drive out to an open plain view when you just want to unwind.

A large Paju café called On the Rail | a Munsan spot with a pretty train track view 🚂☕️ (nothing to do with the Paju cold storage incident, just FYI!!)

If you're driving out toward Paju looking for a café with a good atmosphere, pay attention ✨ This time I visited On the Rail, located on Imjingang-ro in Munsan-eup, Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do. The name already sounded like it meant something, and sure enough, when I got there it turned out to be a café literally right in front of the train tracks. The Gyeongui-Jungang Line runs right in front, so while sitting in the café you can actually watch trains go by 🚆

Train views + a wide garden + open plain views of Paju — it was a great large café to visit as part of a drive.

Location and atmosphere at On the Rail
📌 25 Imjingang-ro, Munsan-eup, Paju-si, Gyeonggi-do, On the Rail
On the Rail sits on the road heading from Munsan toward Imjingak, so it was easy to stop by as part of a drive course. The building itself is fairly large, and it has both a spacious indoor area and an ample outdoor space, so on nice days it'd be great to sit outside for a while. Especially the view from the wide-open outdoor garden — it was really good!! Autumn sky,, so pretty,, I kept saying that over and over ㅠ

What I ordered: an americano and two desserts
This time I kept it simple!
- ☕️ Americano
- 🍰 Earl grey pound cake
- 🚂 Train cookies
I enjoyed a leisurely time with a cup of coffee and dessert on the side.

Earl grey pound cake — a real Munsan dessert find...
The earl grey pound cake I ordered to go with my coffee! It had that dense, heavy texture typical of pound cake, plus earl grey flavor, which went really well with the coffee. A great combo with an americano on a day when you're craving something sweet 🤎

Train-shaped train cookies
And if you come to On the Rail, you just can't skip this one lol. The train-shaped train cookies! Since the café's name is On the Rail, it was cute that the cookies were shaped like a train too.

A plus: it stays open late
On the Rail stays open relatively later than most large cafés, so it's fine to visit in the evening as well as during the day. Based on the hours I confirmed, it runs from 11:00 to 2:00 the next day, so there's plenty of time flexibility.

A wide outdoor garden and views of the Paju plain
It felt like a waste to only see the indoor space, so I checked out the outdoor area too. The garden is laid out quite spaciously, so on nice-weather days it'd be perfect to sit outside and have coffee. Best of all, there are almost no tall buildings nearby, so the view is really wide open.

There's even a Ghibli-style photo zone
And here's a part I personally thought was cute! Using the atmosphere around the train tracks, they've set up a Ghibli-style photo zone. When the tracks blend with the surrounding scenery, photos end up looking like a scene straight out of an animated film. This was a large Paju café that's good for wandering around and taking photos, rather than just grabbing a coffee and leaving 📸

The outdoor space is dog-friendly
Good news for anyone who likes to bring their dog to cafés! On the Rail allows dogs in the outdoor space, so you can visit with your pup 🐶 With such a large outdoor area, on nice days it seems like a great place to enjoy the café almost like taking your dog for a walk. If you're planning a drive out to Paju with your dog, this is worth keeping in mind.
A unique café where trains pass right in front
On the Rail's biggest charm is definitely the train track view! The Gyeongui-Jungang Line runs right in front of the café, so if the timing lines up, you can watch a train pass by up close. There's something about the moment a train goes by that makes the café's atmosphere feel even more special lol. It's not just the usual floor-to-ceiling window café scenery — the point is you actually get to see a moving train. It'd be fun to visit with kids too, and it's a pretty appealing space for anyone who likes taking photos.
If you're looking for a large café in Paju, try On the Rail
Overall, what I liked most about On the Rail was less that it's simply a large café, and more that you get to enjoy the train tracks and natural scenery together.
- Right in front of the Gyeongui-Jungang Line tracks
- You can actually watch a train pass by 🚆
- Spacious indoor area
- Wide outdoor garden
- Open views of the Paju plain
- Ghibli-style photo zone
- Dogs allowed outdoors 🐶
- Plus train-shaped train cookies!
It's exactly the kind of place that suits stopping for a coffee while enjoying open scenery on a drive. If you're looking for a large café in Paju, this is a great pick, and I'd also recommend it to anyone in the Munsan area looking for a café to stop by after a meal.
