Mara spicy broth and ppeongseukeurim dessert at Dadam Shabu Shabu
In short
Dadam Shabu Shabu & Wolnamssam Wirye Branch is an all-you-can-eat cafeteria-style shabu-shabu restaurant on the 3rd floor of G&G Plaza, a 5-minute walk from Namwirye Station in Seongnam, Gyeonggi. Diners split their pot between clear broth and a mara-style spicy broth, load up on over 40 kinds of vegetables and beef (usamgyeop pork belly-cut beef and beef neck), then finish with cone ice cream, an affogato made by pouring espresso over the ice cream, and ppeongseukeurim — puffed rice cracker topped with ice cream. Never quite left room for the fried rice, but the vegetable freshness and quiet hall made it memorable.

A hall with views of Wiryegwangjang-ro and the waterside park through the windows
The window seats further inside were group tables I couldn't use, but I peeked at an empty table before it filled up — through the window, the wide Wiryegwangjang-ro and the waterside park stretched out in a refreshingly open view.

There are partitions exactly at eye level when seated, so you're not bothered by neighboring tables — a comfortable layout. And thanks to the soft light from the large fixture hanging in the middle of the hall, even a buffet-style menu that could easily feel chaotic ended up feeling calm and quiet.

If there's a wait, dining time is limited to 2 hours, and leaving food behind incurs a ₩5,000 environmental fee! (Let's not get too greedy and actually follow this one, haha~~^^)

Over 40 kinds of vegetables at the bar, plus dry ice
It's packed with over 40 kinds of vegetables brought in fresh from Garak Market every single day, and they even use dry ice to keep them fresh — it felt like scooping straight out of a refrigerator.

Usamgyeop and beef neck are piled on generously and unlimited refills are truly unlimited. Since the broth gets tastier once the meat goes in, I loaded up on meat first.

Eggs, seaweed, sesame oil, and toasted sesame seeds — all ready to go! Today I was determined to actually get to the fried rice~~~
With the shabu-shabu's colorful vegetables and meat, plus hot water all set, we were ready to eat wolnamssam wraps too!

Split broth: clear broth + mara-style spicy broth
Part of the fun of shabu-shabu is picking to your taste — you can choose a split broth pot (two out of three: spicy/seafood/clear) to enjoy two flavors at once! We went with mild clear broth + a sharp spicy broth, and the spicy one had that mara-style kick. Alternating between the clean, light broth and the mara-spicy one kept things interesting and was so much better than sticking to one.

Dessert: affogato and ppeongseukeurim
Once again I got so into the wolnamssam and shabu-shabu that I didn't save room for the fried rice ㅠㅠ Still had to get the real vanilla ice cream though~~

Delicious in a cone too

It's not the very soft-serve kind of ice cream, so pouring espresso over it makes an affogato. And apparently the top dessert here is ppeongseukeurim — ice cream piled on top of a puffed rice cracker (ppeongtwigi).
