Saturday black pork dinner in Seongnam: Jeju Monteurak Sunae
In short
Jeju Monteurak Bundang Sunae Branch is a Jeju black pork restaurant a 4-minute walk from Sunae Station in Seongnam, Gyeonggi. Booked through Naver for a Saturday evening, the visit covered the Jeju Bansang set and Jeju pork kimchi jjigae, with the pork belly and pork neck eaten in the order the staff recommend: salt first, then white kimchi with wasabi, then garlic saeujeot (salted shrimp). The crisp-outside, juicy-inside pork belly tasted exactly like black pork on Jeju Island, making Jeju Monteurak a new favorite.

Since it was the weekend, I went out to try something delicious at Jeju Monteurak. Today's menu: Jeju black pork 🐗 I still haven't found the exact taste of black pork I had on Jeju Island, so I was curious how Monteurak would compare.
Where is Jeju Monteurak Bundang Sunae Branch, and where do you park?

The scent of Jeju hits you right from the entrance~ a cute galleu-style dol hareubang (stone grandfather statue) and three little piglets greet you adorably.

Naver booking perk: free fried rice, plus 500-won drinks on Fridays
If you make a Naver reservation before visiting, they give you free Jeju carrot cream fried rice. Since it was Saturday evening and I figured it would be busy, I booked ahead — and sure enough, I got to try the fried rice. If you're planning a visit, definitely book on Naver and use the fried rice coupon!
Also, Jeju Monteurak specially offers soju, beer, and highballs for ₩500 on Fridays only, so you can properly enjoy your 'fire Friday.' Not just any day, but Friday, for ₩500... For anyone who lives by the rule of a beer on Friday night, this is such happy news ✨

Interior big enough for a 10-table company dinner
The inside of Jeju Monteurak was massive...! No matter how many photos I took, I couldn't capture it all, so I ended up taking video instead; it was big enough for around 10 groups to have company dinners at once! The tables were spaced far apart too, so you could eat comfortably.

Ordering the Jeju Bansang set with Jeju pork kimchi jjigae
Time to order~ After debating for about 5 minutes over what to get, since it was my first visit I wanted to try all the black pork options, so I ordered the Jeju Bansang set. For the stew, I went back and forth between seafood doenjang jjigae and Jeju pork kimchi jjigae, and settled on the kimchi jjigae~!

After ordering, they set out the side dishes. With myeongyi namul (mountain garlic leaves), white kimchi, bracken fern, and green onion salad — so many sides that pair well with the meat — I was already fully expecting great things.

The ordered Jeju black pork belly and neck arrived! They grill the meat from start to finish for you, so all you have to do is sit back and eat. I love restaurants that grill the meat for you.

While the meat was grilling, I noticed the Jeju pork certification mark — a certification from Jeju City confirming they use real Jeju black pork. Having that mark meant I could eat with confidence.

The recommended eating order: salt, then white kimchi and wasabi, then garlic saeujeot
Before digging in, I read up on how to eat it for maximum deliciousness. First bite with salt, then white kimchi and wasabi, then a garlic saeujeot (salted shrimp) sauce — and besides these there was also melljeot (fermented anchovy sauce), so there were plenty of ways to enjoy the meat.

Finally, the grilled meat arrives~! Once it's fully cooked, they set it off to one side so you can eat it right away.

First bite of black pork belly with salt
I dipped the first bite in salt and popped it in my mouth...! It was so good we just looked at each other. This is exactly what 'crispy outside, juicy inside' means — crunchy on the outside, tender and moist inside, truly a fantastic taste. The juices practically gushed out — I genuinely felt like I was back on Jeju Island.

Second pairing: white kimchi and wasabi
Now that I knew the meat was delicious, it was time to try a different combo. Wrapping the meat in white kimchi and wasabi and popping it in for the second combo — the black pork held its own against the bold white kimchi, and this combo was also a huge success 🫢

Thick-cut Jeju black pork neck
Once you've had your fill of pork belly, it's time for pork neck. Dip a thick-cut chunk of meat in salt, and you get a mouthful packed with juices from the thick cut. The black pork neck was also a huge success...! The shock of that first bite of pork belly was so strong that belly still edged out neck for me, but if neck had been my first bite, who knows what order I'd prefer 👍

Jeju pork kimchi jjigae with a bowl of rice
Partway through, the kimchi jjigae arrived too — since it's made with Jeju pork, it was a sweet kimchi stew with a strong meaty flavor. As someone who loves sweet kimchi jjigae, I ate it up happily. I couldn't resist a bowl of rice, so I enjoyed it together with the stew!

Finishing with Jeju carrot cream fried rice
Even though I was very full, I couldn't resist the final Jeju carrot cream fried rice. The rice is mixed with cream and soy sauce, then piled high with the famous Jeju carrots. Mix it all up and take a bite — the sweet cream sauce and carrot combo is so good it's magic how you keep eating even when full. When it starts to feel rich, a bite of kimchi jjigae balances it out with sweet-and-salty, keeping you going.

Is Jeju Monteurak Bundang Sunae Branch worth it? Final verdict
I was so full I held my stomach while paying, and I noticed they had candy, gum, and mouthwash cutely arranged so you can pick depending on how bad your breath is... I snapped a photo, haha.
My visit today to Jeju Monteurak Bundang Sunae Branch was so moving because I got to taste the black pork just as I remembered it from Jeju Island 🥹 I finally feel like I've found my favorite black pork spot. The seating area is huge too, so it'd be great for company dinners, group gatherings, dates, or family meals. The wide table spacing meant it wasn't noisy, which was also a big plus. And since corkage is free, bringing a good bottle to enjoy with the black pork sounds wonderful.
If you're looking for a black pork spot in Bundang, ⭐️I highly recommend Jeju Monteurak Sunae Branch⭐️
