Near Dongtan Station: Pyeonbaek Hoegwan, Easy Parking Included
It had been a while since I had enjoyed a hearty, healthy meal with my family, so we visited a great hinoki-steamed food spot near Dongtan Station~
When I go to a restaurant with my child, I check the menu, parking, and atmosphere before visiting. Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Dongtan Branch even has a playroom, so it was a great place to visit with a child!

It is close to Dongtan Station, so it is easy to get to, and the Granvia Star building's underground parking lot is spacious, making the visit nice and easy~

Pyeonbaek Hoegwan is on the second floor of the building!

Along with hinoki steaming, you can enjoy Vietnamese spring rolls, shabu-shabu, kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup), and more in the unlimited hinoki-steamed beef shabu-shabu course at a great value! Weekday lunch is ₩16,900, weekend dinner is ₩19,900, elementary school students are ₩12,900, and preschoolers are ₩7,900.
The interior was very spacious and pleasant. There was plenty of space between the tables, so there was no inconvenience in parking a stroller or seating a child. They also had lots of high chairs ready, which showed their consideration for families~

The Playroom and How It Works
Best of all, there was a playroom (kids' zone) on one side of the restaurant, and I really loved that my child had a place to play excitedly while our food was being prepared!

The instructions were clearly written on the table, so even first-time visitors can use the restaurant without any trouble. We ordered the unlimited-course set.
What's at the Self-Service Bar?
This is the self-service bar set up in the center!

It was packed with all kinds of food, including dinner rolls, corn salad, fries, fried rice, spaghetti, and tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), haha. I thought I could get full just from the self-service bar items.. But hinoki steaming was today's main event, lol, so I did not get greedy and only brought back little tasting portions.

At the self-service bar opposite, they had vegetables and meat for shabu-shabu, broth, and ingredients for Vietnamese spring rolls! Being able to enjoy all of this at under ₩20,000, lol, was such amazing value.
Hinoki-Steamed Food Arrives With a Timer
The hinoki-steamed dish was set up with a timer!!! Once the set time had passed, a staff member came and opened the lid for us.

While the hinoki-steamed dish was cooking, we filled our empty stomachs with tteokbokki, spaghetti, and more from the self-service bar, haha.
Ta-da! The appetizingly cooked hinoki-steamed dish, with its fragrant hinoki cypress aroma and meat and vegetables sending up clouds of steam, really got our appetites going.
There were bean sprouts underneath, topped generously with quality beef, mushrooms, bok choy, kabocha squash, and more. Because it is steamed, the grease cooks away while the ingredients' natural flavor and moisture stay intact.

The seasoning was not overpowering and the meat was tender, so it was also great as a side dish for my child. It was even more delicious to put the beautifully tender hinoki-steamed beef into Vietnamese spring rolls from the self-service bar, haha. Eating it with vegetables somehow made me feel healthier too!
Unlimited Two-Style Shabu-Shabu, Just the Way We Like It
After finishing the hinoki-steamed dish, we could start round two with shabu-shabu, haha. We chose a half-and-half pot with a clear seafood broth and a spicy, hearty broth.
From fresh vegetables such as bok choy, napa cabbage, and enoki mushrooms to dumplings, sujebi (hand-torn dough soup pieces), and kalguksu noodles, there was really such a wide variety ready to enjoy.

We fully enjoyed the benefit of unlimited refills, taking as much as we wanted without feeling self-conscious, hehe. The meat quality was better than expected too; after a quick dip in the hot broth, it just melted in our mouths, hehe. We finished up properly with kalguksu noodles and fried rice in the richly flavored meat broth, and came out feeling wonderfully full!

Eating out with a child can get hectic, but Pyeonbaek Hoegwan in Dongtan has a playroom, so my child could play happily while Mom and Dad could eat comfortably. Plus, with hinoki steaming and shabu-shabu that everyone can customize to their own taste, it was a well-rounded meal that pleased the whole family.
If you are looking for a restaurant near Dongtan Station that is good to visit with your child, or a spot for a family meal, give Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Dongtan Branch a try~
