Spicy braised pork ribs near Baekseok Station: Jimidang, Goyang
In short
Jimidang is a pork rib restaurant near Baekseok Station in Goyang, Gyeonggi. Dad and I had the ₩43,000 two-person set at Level 2, wrapped the tender ribs in buckwheat pancakes, and found the portion seriously generous. Verdict: I want to come back whenever I crave spicy ribs haha.

Spicy braised pork ribs near Baekseok Station: Jimidang
Sent Mom off to an Im Young-woong concert, then came to eat spicy braised ribs with Dad. Have you heard of Jimidang (지미당)? It’s apparently a popular spicy braised pork rib spot near Baekseok Station in Ilsan, featured on SBS Live Today’s Big Data Restaurant and Lonely Choi Mal-nyeon’s Spicy Braised Ribs. The blog reviews were good too, so I had to see what it was like.
Storefront and the 100-serving daily limit

Think green when looking for the Jimidang sign. Spicy braised ribs are the main item, and they say they sell only 100 servings a day.
Where do you park?
Jimidang sits on a corner, and curbside parking is available around that corner. There is room for about five or six cars near the restaurant. If every spot is full, or only the space right in front remains, call the restaurant or ask the owner at the entrance, “Where should I park?” They’ll kindly point you to a parking space.

Solo meals are available at weekday lunch.
Catch Table waitlist and takeaway information

As soon as you open the door, the Catch Table waitlist machine is on the left. If you arrive without a reservation and it’s packed, you’ll need to register on Catch Table, right? The instructions are posted, so take a look. Oh, and for takeaway, reserve through Naver to pick it up without waiting!
Small but quiet dining room
It’s a compact interior with around seven tables. When I visited at 6 p.m. on Sunday, all but two tables were full.

There are photos with the owners of suppliers for chili powder, perilla oil, and gondre. This kind of origin display feels new. The ribs are said to be top-grade Bellota Iberico Duroc pork from Spain.
Wow, every table has a fan for drying sweat, hair ties, floss, hand sanitizer, stain remover, a bottle opener, and a call bell. Seeing them set out individually for each table, you can tell they put a lot of thought into it. I especially love that they have floss. High chairs are available too!

Since I booked ahead, my name was on the table like this. Made me feel so looked after, hehe.

Two-person set and spice level

I ordered the set. The two-person set is ₩43,000 and includes two servings of spicy braised pork ribs, gondre rice, and a buckwheat pancake.

There are Levels 1, 2, and 3. Mild is about Shin Ramyun level, regular is about Buldak 볶음면 spicy chicken ramen level, and spicy is about Yeopdduk Original level. Each added extra costs ₩2,000. With a Naver review event, you can get one extra of your choice for free.
The basic sides were simple: cool radish dongchimi, pickled radish, and soy sauce for the buckwheat pancake. A Yeouido fireworks show kept playing on TV, but I took a weird photo of it. The TV volume was low, so it wasn’t bothersome, which was nice.
Spicy braised pork ribs two-person set

Ta-da, the food is here. It’s piled high with bean sprouts and shredded green onion. The ribs and the mushroom extra I added must be hiding underneath.

Even with the two-person set, the gondre rice comes in one bowl, so you can portion it into the empty bowls provided. The gondre wasn’t tough and was soft enough to eat easily. Together with the set, it was not a small amount at all. I was actually so full that I left a little.
Do the rib bones come off easily?
The staff explain in detail how to remove the rib bones. If they see a table struggling with the ribs, they even go over and explain again, hahaha. They make it sound easy, but naturally there’s a difference between practiced staff and customers. Wow, it really slips right out. The meat is incredibly tender.
The huge buckwheat pancake in the set

The buckwheat pancake included in the set arrived. It is sooo huge hahaha.

This is the two-person set.

Such a generous portion~ I added mushrooms for free through the Naver review event, and they gave us a whole lot of king oyster mushrooms.

Cut the buckwheat pancake into pizza-shaped wedges, then roll one around a rib and eat it—it’s delicious. I recommend pizza-shaped wedges rather than squares.

Nice, substantial ribs~ I liked that these weren’t skinny, all-bone ribs. I worried the pig might have been on a diet, but after poking around with the tongs, there was loads of meat, so I stopped worrying. We chose Level 2, the Buldak level, and if you normally enjoy Buldak and like spicy food, I recommend Level 2!! I enjoy heat, so I would have found Level 1 a little disappointing. Dad and I thought Level 2 was exactly right. Overall, the flavor is sweet and spicy. If you really can’t handle spice, definitely choose Level 1 and ask the staff to make it even less spicy~ From a few reviews I read, spice beginners seemed to find even Level 1 difficult. Oh dear. The visuals are amazing.
How to wrap it in a buckwheat pancake

I tried it over gondre rice and on its own, but wrapping it in the buckwheat pancake was the absolute best.

- Lay a crispy buckwheat pancake on your plate.
- Add a halved rib, mushrooms, shredded green onion, and bean sprouts, then let it cool.
- Roll it up and eat it.

Put it in your mouth like this and you get the nutty crisp-yet-moist pancake, spicy ribs, soft mushrooms, plus the fresh, fragrant crunch of shredded green onion and bean sprouts. So good. From that point on, I kept wrapping everything only in buckwheat pancakes.

The shredded green onion and bean sprouts can be refilled for free. The staff walk around and ask, “Would you like more bean sprouts?” Without added extras, the spicy braised ribs simply come with ribs, shredded green onion, and bean sprouts, so those two really stand out. They were crunchy and fragrant and went well with the spicy ribs. Still, I recommend adding at least one extra.
Overall visit review
Because the restaurant is small, I was really worried it might be noisy, but it was not noisy at all. The staff were all kind, and the place was clean, which I liked. Above all, one staff member stayed near the counter and continually watched the tables, so I thought it was thoughtful how they noticed what customers needed and brought it over.
Each table’s kiosk also has buttons for water, basic sides, and extra bean sprouts, so even people who hesitate to call staff can feel at ease visiting here. I saw all kinds of groups, including people coming after work and families. It’s 798 m from Exit 6 of Baekseok Station, so walking there looks fine too~ And if you can’t eat spicy food, don’t worry: there are soy sauce braised ribs too.
A solid pork rib restaurant near Baekseok Station. Go go when you’re craving spicy braised ribs. Keep it in mind if you’re looking for a meal near Ilsan Lake Park, Costco, Lotte Outlet, or Ilsan Hospital. The staff were generally kind, and you could see that they kept looking after diners. I want to wrap ribs in that buckwheat pancake again.
