Whenever you go to Mulwang Reservoir, deciding what to eat is always a struggle. Out of all the choices, one place kept catching my eye lately — Bulhyangjip Mulwang Lake Main Branch, which proudly calls itself one of the top three charcoal bulgogi restaurants in the country.

Parking and walking to the entrance, I could feel the atmospheric vibe right from the door, so I was already excited before even eating...❤️

Location and hours of Bulhyangjip Mulwang Lake Main Branch
It's located inside the traditional food village by Mulwang Reservoir. Being tucked inside doesn't make it hard to find, but it's much more convenient to come by car than by public transit. Just search 'Bulhyangjip Mulwang Lake Main Branch' on Naver Map and it pops right up.
- Address: 46-2 1F Dongseo-ro 811beon-gil, Siheung-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea (127 Mulwang-dong, Siheung-si, Gyeonggi-do)
- Hours: Daily 11:00–21:00, opens at 11!

Is parking convenient?
There's a spacious dedicated lot behind the restaurant that fits around 30 cars. It's free, and roomy enough that you can come even on weekends without any parking stress. Some places around Mulwang Reservoir are a headache for parking, but here you don't need to worry about that at all — which was great.

Charcoal smoke from the parking lot, and the restaurant's vibe
The moment you open the car door in the parking lot, the smell of charcoal smoke hits you right away, and it gets your appetite going before you've even walked in — a surprisingly fun experience. Inside, the space is much bigger and cleaner than I expected. It's laid out generously, with group tables, private rooms, and window seats where you can enjoy the Mulwang Reservoir view while eating your meat. The interior feels less like a restaurant and more like a nicely designed café. Ordering is done through a tablet at the table, which is convenient, and staff will grill the meat for you. Dogs are welcome too, so I saw a lot of families with their dogs haha.

Bulhyangjip's menu and prices
As a second-generation charcoal grill bulgogi specialist, the main menu lineup is solid.
- Charcoal scallion bulgogi ₩15,900
- Pre-charred charcoal pork belly ₩16,900
- Charcoal gochujang bulgogi ₩15,900
- Sides: country-style grandma doenjang stew, mom's-hand steamed egg, mul naengmyeon, bibim noodles, bibim naengmyeon
I went all in and ordered the charcoal scallion bulgogi and pre-charred pork belly as mains, plus the country-style grandma doenjang stew, mom's-hand steamed egg, and mul naengmyeon!!
Is it okay to bring a baby?
Bulhyangjip Mulwang Lake Main Branch had several baby chairs ready.
Once inside, a big picture window opens onto a grass lawn stretching out refreshingly beyond it. We arrived right at opening time, so we were lucky enough to get a seat with a great view of the window and the lawn 🌱💚
Pre-charred charcoal pork belly, cooked in advance
As the name suggests, the pre-charred charcoal pork belly is first charred over charcoal in the kitchen before it comes out. Through this process, the smoky flavor really soaks into the meat, so when you finish grilling it at the table, the aroma comes through even stronger. The outside is savory with that charcoal smokiness, and the inside stays juicy, so it eats clean without the usual greasiness of pork belly.
Basic side dishes and the self-serve bar
Once seated, basic side dishes are laid out — seasoned greens, bracken fern, cabbage salad, kimchi, ssamjang (dipping paste), and more.

You can grab more side dishes and lettuce wraps from the self-serve bar. They're said to be house-made side dishes. They pair well grilled together with the meat, and they're also good on their own.

Charcoal scallion bulgogi, the signature dish piled with scallions
The charcoal scallion bulgogi can only be ordered starting from 2 servings, and the moment it arrives, the meat is genuinely piled high with scallions. For anyone who loves scallions, this dish is a happy sight just by looking at it. Dip the meat generously in the special sauce and wrap it in a lettuce leaf — the combo is truly art — and the charcoal-fired smokiness blending with the sauce gives it a depth clearly different from other bulgogi restaurants. You'd worry the meat might burn, but since it's pre-charred, you can eat comfortably without stressing about timing.

You can also watch the meat being grilled at the open kitchen. Seeing them pre-char the meat over a big flame was fun to watch while waiting.
Baby dishes, utensils, and even seaweed
They even had baby dishes and utensils prepared separately, and gave us seaweed so the baby could eat too.

There were menu items that go well with rice for the baby, so we didn't need to prepare a separate baby meal (the owner is the best....👶🏻❤️👶🏻❤️)

Charcoal scallion bulgogi, full of that smoky flavor
The charcoal scallion bulgogi came out first. Since the meat is already pre-charred once, you only need to cook it a little more at the table.

Following the recommended way to eat it noted at the table, I put the meat lightly dipped in the special sauce along with scallions into a lettuce wrap and tried it. With the smoky flavor fully soaked into the meat, plus the scallion aroma and the special sauce — this is paradise...😤😤 The sauce wasn't overly strong, so the meat's flavor really came through, and the smokiness lingered the more I chewed, so I kept picking up more... A dish I'd confidently recommend. Bulhyangjip's number one menu item!!!!

Be sure to order the country-style grandma doenjang stew
You absolutely cannot skip the doenjang stew!!! It's thick and rich like a concentrated doenjang paste, savory and deep in flavor, and it steals the rice like nothing else. It's so good — please, order the doenjang stew,,,,
The country-style grandma doenjang stew, with its savory, rich soybean-paste base, perfectly cleanses your palate between bites of meat. It has that deep flavor like it's been simmered at home for a long time, and a spoonful between bites of meat completely washes away any greasiness.

Bulhyangjip's bibim noodles
I also ordered Bulhyangjip's signature side dish, the bibim noodles. Rather than a typical thick, sticky bibim noodle style, it's noodles with a tangy, sweet, slightly spicy sauce sitting in a bit of broth! Wrapping the noodles with scallions and bulgogi in a lettuce wrap is a great, great combo..👍🏻
When we came in right at opening, it was still spacious, but by the time we finished eating and stepped out, the dining hall had filled up completely...! Definitely a proven Mulwang Reservoir favorite.

Finishing with mom's-hand steamed egg and mul naengmyeon
The mom's-hand steamed egg comes bubbling in an earthenware pot, and its soft, fluffy texture pairs really well with the meat. It's the kind of visual and taste that fits the description 'just like the steamed egg my mom used to make when I was a kid.' The mul naengmyeon (cold noodles in broth) is perfect for finishing off a meat meal. The broth is clean and refreshing, giving a satisfying end to a hearty meat meal. If you feel a bit greasy, a bowl of mul naengmyeon resets everything completely.
Subscribe to alerts on Naver Place for event coupons, so check before you visit. It's dog-friendly, so you can bring your dog along. With group tables and private rooms, it's also a great spot for family gatherings or company dinners. Ordering is via tablet at the table, and staff grill the meat for you.
The pride of being one of the top three charcoal bulgogi restaurants in the country wasn't just talk. When looking for a meat restaurant near Mulwang Reservoir, there are so many options it's hard to decide, but Bulhyangjip doesn't fall short anywhere — atmosphere, taste, service, and parking. Order the charcoal scallion bulgogi, steamed egg, and doenjang stew together and your meal that day is guaranteed to be a success.

The portion is truly massive. The steamed egg isn't heavily seasoned yet it's so tasty — I kept wondering what the trick was. Total cheat code.
There's also a Naver receipt review event going on. Write a review and you can get a cold drink, so definitely take part~

It was even better eaten together with the lettuce wraps. Since it's house-made, the side dishes weren't overly strong-tasting, which I liked.

This is Bulhyangjip's signature bibim noodles, made with vegetable broth fermented for 14 days and a tangy-spicy sauce. Personally I liked the noodles more than the bibim naengmyeon — the bowl is huge and comes packed full, so the portion is really generous. Enough for two people to share! The noodles had a slightly brothy sauce, and it wasn't too intense — it tasted like the noodles my grandmother used to make. Even after finishing all the meat, I polished off a whole bowl.
To sum up
Bulhyangjip, a favorite by Mulwang Reservoir in Siheung, is an addictive and appealing place with bulgogi full of that smoky charcoal flavor. Be sure to also try the signature bibim noodles for something refreshing alongside it. If you're looking for a great meal by Mulwang Reservoir, I confidently recommend this place.
