Siheung bakery café for walnut bread stock checks: Flowerpot

After a meal near Mulwang Reservoir in Siheung, there is one café my family naturally ends up visiting: Flowerpot Cafe & Bakery. Actually, this is not the first time I have visited and introduced this café! My mom loves spacious, large cafés, and she especially likes Flowerpot’s bakery bread, so we come here often.

Whenever my mom and I have something to do around Mulwang Reservoir, we usually eat first and then go to Flowerpot. It is a great café to visit near Mulwang Lake, so I wanted to share it with you. One thing to note: if you visit after eating at a nearby Mulwang Lake restaurant and verify your receipt, you can get 10% off drinks. Have a meal at a good restaurant near Mulwang Lake → visit Flowerpot Bakery, and enjoy a leisurely time in this spacious café.

A spacious, comfortable large café on the first floor

The first thing you notice when you visit Flowerpot is the scale of the café. The space opens up generously from the first floor, and the plants and natural atmosphere keep it from feeling cramped! This is exactly why my mom likes Flowerpot.

Pretty interiors matter to my mom when choosing a café, but more than anything, she prefers somewhere spacious where she can sit comfortably, you know?! Rather than a tiny café, she likes a large one like this, and Flowerpot suited her taste perfectly. It is nice for families to sit and talk for a long time, and there are plenty of seating choices for larger groups too.

Go up to the second floor and you can see Flowerpot’s bakery and menu. Whenever I come to Flowerpot, I always browse the bread before ordering drinks. There are so many kinds that looking through them one by one takes longer than you would think, haha.

From basic bakery items such as scones to roll cakes and loaves of bread, there is a wide selection to choose from depending on your taste. “Did the walnut bread come out today?” is practically our first question. There is plenty of table space to enjoy your bread with drinks, as well as group seating, so it is great to visit with family. Even this large place gets completely full on weekends!

When the weather turns cool like it has now, it feels just right to sit outside and enjoy a drink!

Head up to the third-floor rooftop

Flowerpot has three floors, making it ideal for family gatherings or get-togethers. The third floor also has a rooftop, which is lovely for enjoying an outdoor atmosphere on a nice day. Rather than staying indoors the whole time, I recommend heading upstairs to get some fresh air too! Since my parents love spacious places, that is why I am recommending Flowerpot Bakery Café for this Chuseok.

There is coffee, plenty of kid-friendly options, and a wide variety of drinks!

So many kinds of bread, right?! There are lots of cakes too, including the rare cheese cake and Kirsch cake I had not long ago...

Why should you check for walnut bread in advance?

One thing I definitely recommend trying at Flowerpot is the walnut bread. It is my mom’s favorite bread, so we almost always check for it when we visit Flowerpot. Once you taste it, you understand why she likes it so much. It is especially delicious when you get a freshly baked, warm loaf!

The moment you open the bag, the warm bread smell and the nutty aroma unique to walnuts come rushing out, and it smells so good!! Best of all, it is not overly sweet. Just from the aroma, you would expect a really sweet walnut bread, but when you eat it? The nutty flavor stands out more, which is such a surprise.

Each bite of walnut brings out that nutty taste, and the bread itself is mild, so you keep reaching for it. My mom prefers nutty, mild breads to sweet ones, which is probably why she loves this loaf so much! But again, there was no walnut bread that dayㅠㅠ I was going to buy it if they had some—such a shame ㅠㅠ

I recommend asking about the walnut bread in advance! At first, I thought I could just buy it whenever I went to the café, but it had already sold out at the time I wanted it, so since then I have contacted them beforehand.

If you inquire or reserve in advance, they will tell you when it will be ready, so you can visit at that time and pick it up. If you are planning to visit Flowerpot specifically for walnut bread, I recommend checking the stock or making a reservation instead of just showing up! If you especially want to try it warm from the oven, it is even more important to check first, haha.

The drinks and bakery items we ordered

Chocolate scone and lemon roll

The chocolate scone is a mild scone with sweet chocolate added. It has the characteristic simple, crumbly texture of a scone, but with chocolate inside, so it was nice as a snack. If you like sweet breads or chocolate desserts, the chocolate scone is worth choosing once!

The lemon roll is a soft roll cake with lemon’s distinctive fresh aroma and flavor, so it felt a little fresher than a typical sweet roll cake. Personally, though, I think you can taste the lemon aroma more if you let it sit for a while rather than eating it cold!

Blueberry yogurt smoothie and strawberry smoothie

One of the drinks we ordered this time was a blueberry yogurt smoothie. The tart blueberry flavor and the soft feel of yogurt came through together, so it went well with the bakery items! When you are eating several kinds of bread, sweetness can linger in your mouth, but the yogurt’s tang made this nice to sip in between.

Personally, if I am ordering desserts like scones or rolls, I think it is a good idea to choose a fruit-yogurt drink like this alongside them. The strawberry smoothie has strawberry’s sweet and tangy flavor, and its color is pretty too, so it makes for a nice table photo with bread. It is an easy choice for anyone who likes sweet drinks!

We ordered both the blueberry yogurt smoothie and strawberry smoothie and took turns drinking them. Since the two flavors were different, I was glad we ordered both, haha.

When I go to a café with my parents, I consider whether the space is comfortable just as much as the menu, and Flowerpot was very satisfying in that respect. There are so many good restaurants and cafés around Mulwang Reservoir, right?! If you are looking for a spacious café, a café to visit with your parents, or somewhere with a wide range of bakery items, I think Flowerpot is worth stopping by.

Especially if you visit after a meal near Mulwang Lake, you can also get a drink discount, making it a nice post-meal café course. We will probably stop by again the next time we go to Mulwang Reservoir!
