Yeonnam-dong Chinese restaurant for Peking duck: Panda Dim Sum

I visited Panda Dim Sum (판다딤섬) because I wanted a slightly special Chinese meal in Yeonnam-dong. It is a place where you can enjoy not only dim sum but Peking duck too.

It is in a good spot to stop by while looking around the alleys of Yeonnam-dong. After your meal, the route also works nicely for checking out nearby cafés and little shops, so it seemed like a good date-course stop too.

Panda Dim Sum atmosphere and opening hours

It is open Wednesday through Monday from 12:00 to 21:00 and regularly closed on Tuesdays.

Inside, the overall atmosphere was calm, modern, and cozy. It did not feel overly formal like a Chinese restaurant can sometimes feel, and it looked like a comfortable place for a meal with friends or a family outing as well.

The staff were kind too, so I had no discomfort while eating. You can also easily get refills of the side dishes. It always puts me in a good mood when the staff are friendly!

The Peking duck and dim sum dishes I ordered

This time, I ordered half a Peking duck, truffle siu mai, and a black pepper beef rice bowl.

The dish I was looking forward to most was, of course, the Peking duck. I ordered the half-duck portion, and it was light, nutty, and delicious. I especially loved the duck skin, which was roasted nice and crisp.

When lightly dipped in sugar, the savory nuttiness of the skin and the sweetness of the sugar came together beautifully—the flavor and texture were both so good.

Topped with cucumber and shredded scallion, then eaten wrap-style with sauce, it was such a great combination. The duck itself was mild, so the sauce, scallions, and cucumber paired with it without becoming overpowering.

As I ate, I even found myself wishing I could order extra skin. If you love Peking duck, it is a dish worth trying at least once.

Truffle siu mai with a natural aroma

And then there was the truffle siu mai I ordered alongside it.

The truffle aroma did not stand out too strongly; it blended naturally with the siu mai, so the overall balance was lovely. If I had to choose one dim sum, this is one I would recommend to people who enjoy something a little different.

The unexpectedly best dish: black pepper beef rice bowl

Unexpectedly, the most delicious dish was the black pepper beef rice bowl. I honestly ordered it without high expectations, but it was far more delicious than I thought.

The beef was tender, and the black pepper sauce had great flavor. In particular, the beef and vegetables were cooked well, and the sauce went beautifully with the rice, so I enjoyed it right through to the end.

Personally, I thought it would be nice to order a filling dish like this alongside the Peking duck rather than ending with duck alone.

Panda Dim Sum was a good place to consider not only when I wanted dim sum in Yeonnam-dong, but also when I wanted to enjoy Peking duck at the same time. The Peking duck in particular was memorable for its crisp skin, mild duck meat, and the combination of cucumber, shredded scallion, and sauce.

I think it would suit people looking for a good Yeonnam restaurant, dim sum in Hongdae and Yeonnam-dong, or a slightly different date meal.

If you are exploring Yeonnam-dong as a place to visit in Seoul and start craving a special Chinese dish, Panda Dim Sum is worth adding to your list.
