Sindorim bar for a special combo platter with friends: Mugeunji

In short

Korean Suljip Mugeunji is a Korean bar near Sindorim Station in Guro, Seoul. Three adults shared the Special Combo (aged kimchi jjamppong + boiled pork + cheese potato pancake) for ₩66,400 plus an order of volcano shrimp tempura, and the cheese potato pancake was the standout dish. With a folk-style exterior featuring earthenware jars and a surprisingly modern interior, it's also a good pick for a date.

It's been a while since I went to Sindorim! While looking for a nice-vibe Korean bar there, I found Korean Suljip Mugeunji (한국술집 무근지). ☺️ Unlike an average bar, it seemed to have a clear concept, so I'd been curious about it — and I finally got to visit. Let me introduce it!

A folk-style exterior you feel before you even walk in 🏺

Traditionally Korean-style entrance of the Mugeunji building

From the outside alone, it felt more traditionally Korean than your average bar.

From the sign reading Korean Suljip Mugeunji to the earthenware jars (jangdokdae) placed at the entrance, the concept felt very clear.

Menu board placed outside the restaurant

There was also a menu board outside, so I could check what dishes they had and the price range before even going in!

The interior twist: window seats and an open kitchen

If the outside felt traditionally Korean, the inside was surprisingly modern! There's a fun twist here. 🤭

Modern interior atmosphere of the Mugeunji dining hall

It wasn't just about emphasizing tradition — there was also a warm, sentimental feel, which seems to be why a lot of people choose it as a date spot. 🥹 The window seats especially had great atmosphere, perfect for chatting over a drink!

Window seating with atmospheric lighting

Mugeunji has an open kitchen, so you can watch the cooking happen — and they sometimes do a little fire show, which made watching almost as fun as eating haha.

Once seated, I took a slow look at the menu — everything from single dishes to soups to fried items, a wide variety, great for a group to share lots of different things.

The drink selection is huge too, right?!

Basic side dishes and menu lineup 🥢

Mugeunji's food menu board

After going through the menu slowly, I ordered the Special Combo.

And the water wasn't just plain — it came out toasted, like barley tea. Nice touch! The basic side dishes were pickled onion and green peas.

Boiled pork, fun to eat wrapped in napa cabbage

We were chatting away and the first dish came out fast!

Boiled pork with napa cabbage and dried radish side dishes

It came with plenty of young napa cabbage and side dishes to wrap the boiled pork in! The cabbage was incredibly moist and fresh. The meat was tender too, and placed on the fresh cabbage, the combination was genuinely great. Adding dried radish strips on top gave a crunchy texture plus a sweet seasoning, so I kept making wraps haha. And they kept a flame going underneath, so I could enjoy the pork warm until the very end.

I noticed they also have herring roe wraps on the menu — I can't even imagine how good that must be. Next visit, I'm definitely trying it. 🥹

Cheese potato pancake (감자채전)

Isn't this soooo cute?!

Cheese potato pancake

As soon as the potato pancake came out, it looked like sesame seeds — so cute haha. But what I liked even more than the looks was the taste..!

It was packed with cheese inside, so every bite had a proper nutty richness. Out of everything we ate that day, this pancake was my favorite. 🤍

Aged kimchi jjamppong

Spicy and sharp aged kimchi jjamppong

The jjamppong broth was spicy and sharp — the kind of flavor that keeps you reaching for your drink.

After eating heavier dishes like the boiled pork or potato pancake, a sip of the broth went well in between? Though the noodles weren't as much as expected, so the friend I was with was a little disappointed haha. Still, having one soup dish to share alongside everything else was nice.

Added volcano shrimp tempura

Lastly, the shrimp tempura we added on.

All-black looking volcano shrimp tempura

I was a bit surprised by the all-black look at first, but one bite in, the crunch was seriously impressive!!! The set menu alone was already solid, but adding the shrimp tempura on top left the three of us — two guys and one girl — properly full. ☺️

A menu lineup that makes you want to come back 😆

While placing our extra order, I went through the menu again slowly and realized just how varied it is! It's not just Korean dishes either — there are fusion items too, almost pasta-like. I'd assumed a Korean bar like this would only have traditional menu items, but the range of choices was surprisingly wide, which I loved haha. And that shrimp tempura we added on looked like it jumped right off the menu page, which made me curious about the other dishes too. 🥹 They've also laid out drink pairing suggestions, which showed the owner's sense for detail!!

Sign indicating the restroom is unisex

Truly lastly — the restroom is unisex! If that matters to you, just keep it in mind before visiting.

Wrapping up

Final shot of the full spread of dishes enjoyed at Mugeunji

Discovering such a great Korean bar on a rare trip to Sindorim made me weirdly proud haha. It's not just a place with a pretty atmosphere — each dish was genuinely fun to eat, and I get why people pick it as a date spot. I especially can't stop thinking about that cheese potato pancake. 🤍 Next time, I want to come back to properly try the dishes we missed, along with some makgeolli (rice wine). If you're looking for a nice-vibe Korean bar in Sindorim, how about Korean Suljip Mugeunji? ☺️
