Jokbal set with makguksu at lunch, waiting for seats: Sindorim
In short
Sindorim Sambaekga is a jokbal (pork trotter), bossam, and kalguksu restaurant on the first floor of the building next to Homeplus by Sindorim Station, Seoul. Visiting for lunch with a friend, the writer ordered the Sambaek Jokbal + Makguksu Set, which came with persimmon-seasoned salad, a taste of Busan-style cold jokbal salad, and dried radish greens soybean paste soup. The restaurant was packed with a waiting line, but the portion size and texture of the jokbal made it a satisfying meal.

Hi, this is Sun ☀ I had plans with a friend in Sindorim, and she kept going on and on about wanting jokbal (braised pork trotters), so I searched for the best jokbal and bossam spot in Sindorim and ended up at Sindorim Sambaekga. I heard there's a wait for both lunch and dinner, so I hurried over 🌀

Location and atmosphere of Sindorim Sambaekga
Sindorim Sambaekga, a jokbal and bossam spot in Sindorim, is in the building right next to Homeplus. It's close to Sindorim Station, so it's a good place to grab a drink before heading home.

If you look along the restaurant row on the first floor of the building, you'll find it without much trouble!

Sindorim Sambaekga is apparently also famous as a kalguksu (knife-cut noodle soup) spot in Sindorim. They use good quality meat, and the jokbal is made by a chef who worked at the Chosun Hotel for 30 years...! My expectations for the taste were sky high. And I was also really excited about the fresh kimchi with handmade ripe persimmon in it.

When we walked in, the place was already full... We were the last customers who got in without waiting, haha. Everyone after us had to wait. There were quite a lot of office workers, so it seems like a good spot if you're looking for a company dinner place in Sindorim.

I could tell they take real pride in their food — they had a row of framed points about the restaurant hanging on the wall. It really showed how sincere they are about their food, and I loved that!!

Barley rice with kalguksu, and what's in the self-serve bar?
There's another point worth noting at Sindorim Sambaekga — they give you barley rice if you order kalguksu! Of course kalguksu needs barley rice on the side. It was also a bit surprising to see barley rice at a jokbal and bossam restaurant, haha.

Also check the posted notice!!

At the self-serve bar there was yeolmu (young radish greens) and fresh kimchi to eat with the barley rice, plus gochujang and sesame oil.

Another thoughtful touch — there was orange juice you could drink for dessert after finishing your meal! Little details like that really win me over. And it was actually tasty orange juice too, haha.
Menu

Here's the menu at Sindorim Sambaekga, the jokbal and bossam spot in Sindorim! Of course there's jokbal and bossam, but there were also many kinds of kalguksu. And yes, makguksu (buckwheat noodles) too. There were plenty of side dishes to go with everything as well. Only meal menus can be ordered until 3pm, so it seems popular as a lunch spot in Sindorim too. There's a review event, so make sure to join in!!
Ordered: Sambaek Jokbal + Makguksu Set
Sambaek Jokbal + Makguksu Set, starting with the side dishes

The basic side dishes! Along with salted shrimp and ssamjang, there was also garlic sauce. The seasoned chives were sweet and moreish. The dried radish strips were made in-house, so the texture was great and the seasoning was just right! And then, the star of the show — the persimmon fresh kimchi!! This was a real standout — the sweetness comes from ripe persimmon, which made it clearly different from other fresh kimchi.

We also got a taste of the Busan-style cold jokbal salad, which wasn't too strongly seasoned, so it's a flavor anyone could enjoy. And the meat was so tender.

Makguksu and dried radish greens soybean paste soup
Finally, the makguksu from the set appeared!!! We were torn between this and kalguksu, but it was hot out, so we went with makguksu. First off, it had a lot of vegetables — pass! The portion was huge, haha. The noodles were chewy and the sauce had an addictive flavor!

The dried radish greens soybean paste soup also came out, and wow... it wasn't bland at all — it was rich and kept us going back for more. I wanted to mix it with rice!!!

Sambaek Jokbal, portion and texture
And finally, the star of the show — the jokbal!! I was shocked at the size... the portion was huge. It was glistening with shine, the skin was chewy, and the meat was tender... it was just so delicious, haha.

I officially recognize this as a top jokbal and bossam spot in Sindorim... There was plenty of chewy skin attached even near the bone!!!

There wasn't a hint of gamey smell, and while the meat was tender, the skin was chewy — the texture contrast was so fun. The meat was sliced on the thinner side rather than thick, but I actually preferred that.

We wrapped it up in lettuce wraps to our heart's content, and once we got full, we just kept eating the meat on its own.
Final thoughts
Sindorim Sambaekga's jokbal and bossam are genuinely delicious, and while we had the makguksu, most people around us were eating kalguksu — some even ordered extra kalguksu, haha. If you're looking for a lunch spot or a dinner spot in Sindorim, I recommend visiting Sindorim Sambaekga!!
