What comes with a 20,000-won shabu lunch set

Shabu in Seoul sells various shabu-shabu sets with black pork, beef, and even hanwoo (Korean beef). Lunch sets start from the ₩20,000s, which I liked because it's easy on the wallet. On this visit I ordered

  • ✔️ 1st-grade black pork belly shabu lunch set
  • ✔️ Prime Angus chuck flap shabu lunch set

That's what I went with.

Three sauces, with garlic and cheongyang chili in the soy sauce

Look at the three sauces. The soy sauce one is my favorite!! I loaded mine up with garlic and cheongyang chili (Korean hot green chili). It brought out more of the meat's flavor while adding a spicy kick, making it even tastier. If you like spicy food, definitely try this combo.

How does the spicy broth taste?

I didn't hesitate to pick the spicy broth. It had a sharp yet deep flavor, and the more meat and vegetables I added, the richer the soup got. If you like spicy broths, I think you'll be satisfied.

After ordering, fresh vegetables and various ingredients were neatly prepared. I think ingredient freshness matters a lot for shabu-shabu, and overall everything looked really fresh. Just looking at it made me look forward to a healthy meal!

Black pork belly vs prime Angus chuck flap: which is better?

I tried the black pork belly first. It was sliced to just the right thickness, so it cooked soft even with a light dip in the broth. The more I chewed, the more savory it got — I'd recommend this to anyone who loves pork.

The prime Angus chuck flap shabu lunch set was personally my favorite item. The marbling was just right, giving it a tender texture while still delivering a rich, meaty flavor. Considering it's part of a ₩20,000s lunch, the satisfaction level was pretty high!!

Finishing with rosé risotto instead of porridge

After finishing the shabu-shabu, I chose rosé risotto instead of the usual porridge. Honestly I didn't expect much, but I was surprised it was so much better than I thought~~! The nuttiness and creaminess blended really well, so I enjoyed the meal right to the very end 👍

The cool tea served after the meal was also impressive. It felt like a clean palate cleanser, the perfect way to end the meal~! Personally, this tea was so much tastier than I expected that it really stuck with me ❤️
