Couple's revisit to a Haeundae Chinese restaurant for mala gochu

My favorite Chinese restaurant in Busan! I went back to Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch again haha

Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch is right above Suybeonchoego Pork Gukbap! There's also a Bueokgan Chinese Haeundae branch on Dalmaji-gil, but personally I think the Marine City branch tastes better ~ 👍🏻

An atmosphere that works for family gatherings and dates alike

Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch has an upscale feel. Group reservations are possible, so it's good for family gatherings, dates, and even for treating someone ~ Both the restaurant and the food come out looking clean and neat.

There are also private rooms, so if you'd like to use one, it's best to book in advance.

What we ordered and the prices

Bueokgan Chinese has such a wide variety of Chinese dishes that there's plenty to choose from ~

• BUUK jajangmyeon (black bean noodles) (₩8,000)
• Mala gochu jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup with mala and cilantro) (₩14,000)
• Jalapeño cream shrimp (₩22,000)

BUUK jajangmyeon — the noodles are a bit thick

My boyfriend always orders jajangmyeon whenever we go to a Chinese restaurant. This time too ~ (according to him, the regular jajangmyeon tastes better than suran-ganjjajang, the poached-egg version!)

Bueokgan Chinese's noodles are on the thick side — thicker than regular jajangmyeon noodles but thinner than udon noodles. The black bean sauce has plenty of ingredients mixed in and Bueokgan's jajangmyeon is delicious! Above average for sure ~ After finishing the noodles, ordering a bowl of rice to make jajangbap (mixed with leftover sauce) would be great too.

Mala gochu jjamppong — the dish I order every time

Bueokgan Chinese's mala gochu jjamppong, which I love so much! Have you ever seen a Chinese restaurant selling a dish like this? I ordered it out of simple curiosity at first, but it turned out to be so my style that I've ordered it every single time since ~

The numbing tingle of mala, the spiciness of jjamppong, and the cilantro aroma all come together deliciously ~ There's beef in it too! If you handle spice well and love mala and cilantro, you absolutely have to try this one 👍🏻 It's not an exaggeration to say I go to Bueokgan Chinese almost every time just to eat mala gochu jjamppong . . haha

Jalapeño cream shrimp — my first time ordering it

I'd already tried the black vinegar tenderloin tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) and eohyang-gaji (spicy garlic eggplant), so this time I ordered the jalapeño cream shrimp for the first time.

This is genuinely delicious . . . Fried shrimp sits on top of fresh lettuce, and the shrimp are so plump ~ ~ The cream was sweet and tangy and really tasty. Piling the cream shrimp on lettuce, topping it with one jalapeño, and eating it in one bite is pure happiness 🤤 This would also be great as a side dish with beer!

Personally, out of tangsuyuk, eohyang-gaji, and cream shrimp, I think cream shrimp is the tastiest ~ The tangsuyuk sauce was a bit sour, if I recall, and the eohyang-gaji felt a bit oily as I ate through it, but the jalapeño cream shrimp was delicious from the first bite to the last.

And here's the fried mandu (dumplings) I got from the receipt review event! Crispy outside, juicy inside — definitely worth joining the review event for 🤙🏻

It had been a while since my last visit, so I enjoyed Bueokgan Chinese Marine City Branch even more this time! Overall, every dish seemed delicious, which made me curious about the rest of the menu too.
