Haeundae restaurant date dinner with shrimp oil pasta: Smith's Farm

In short

Smith's Farm is a farm-concept Western restaurant near Dongbaek Station in Haeundae, Busan. For a couple's dinner, the writer ordered stone octopus steak, grilled romaine, and shrimp oil pasta — the octopus was surprisingly tender and the oil pasta ranked among the best they've ever had. With generously spaced tables that make conversation easy, it's a solid pick for a Haeundae date night.

Haeundae really does have a ton of good restaurants, but finding one with both a nice vibe and great pasta is honestly a bit of a struggle. This time I went to Smith's Farm, known as a top Western restaurant in Haeundae 🌿

Isn't the name kind of cute? Haha. When I first heard it I thought, wait, is it an actual farm...? A brunch café...? But it turns out it's a restaurant with everything from pasta to gnocchi to steak!

I got a little confused looking for the entrance, but it was right there in front of me the whole time — Smith's Farm :)

A location you can walk to from Dongbaek Station — and parking?

Smith's Farm is within walking distance of Dongbaek Station on Busan Metro Line 2, so it's easy to get to by public transit! Parking is also available — there's a dedicated lot right next door.

The unique atmosphere of Smith's Farm 🌿

Once you step inside, you start to understand why 'farm' is in the name, haha. Rather than the clean, modern Italian restaurant feel you'd expect, it's a more distinctive space with the farm concept woven throughout.

It kind of feels like an Italian restaurant..? But there are cute little touches everywhere..? And why are the staff all so tall..? There's something so unbalanced about it yet somehow it all comes together perfectly!

And here's what I loved — the tables are spaced quite far apart, which makes it great for a date with just the two of you!

I also thought it would be a great spot for a get-together with friends or a family dinner. If you're in Haeundae looking for a Western restaurant for a family meal, I highly recommend it.

The Smith's Farm menu

The menu was more varied than I expected. From the stone octopus steak — known as the restaurant's signature dish — to gnocchi, pasta, pizza, and salad, there were plenty of dishes good for sharing with a group.

The signature dish at Smith's Farm, a Western restaurant known throughout Haeundae, is the stone octopus steak.

Wine list for pairing with the meal

Since it's a Western restaurant, there's also a good wine list to pair with your meal! We ordered the signature stone octopus steak along with grilled romaine and shrimp oil pasta :-) A salad and an oil pasta combo — need I say more.

Stone octopus steak: a first-time flavor

The first thing to arrive was the stone octopus steak.

Stone octopus steak served with carrot purée

This was my first time trying stone octopus steak! A steak made from octopus... would it actually be good? When they brought it out, they explained that it was topped with carrot purée, told us about the sauce on the side, and even showed us the best way to eat it!

What I loved most was the carrot purée — so good! And the octopus was genuinely tender. I expected it to be chewy, so I was pretty surprised by how soft it was. Dipping it into each of the three sauces on the side gave a totally different flavor each time, so it was fun to enjoy the octopus steak in so many different ways!

The grilled romaine I wasn't expecting much from — but finished anyway

Next came the grilled romaine. Honestly, we ordered the salad just as something light before the pasta, so I wasn't expecting much. But it turned out to be surprisingly delicious?! The romaine still had a nice crunch, so it was satisfying to chew, too!

The sauce was really good... and the cheese cubes served alongside were amazing too. Honestly it was a dish I didn't expect much from, but it turned out to be way better than expected, so I finished the whole thing.

Shrimp oil pasta: the umami was insane

Last but not least, the shrimp oil pasta! I already really love oil pasta, but this one ranked among the best oil pastas I've ever had.

It wasn't just me — Hosori agreed too! The umami was insane, and it wasn't too oily, which made it even better.

Why it worked so well as a date spot

Personally, Smith's Farm felt less like a place you just eat and leave, and more like a proper date spot! You know how at some places you can barely hear each other talk? Here, conversation was easy, and maybe because the tables are spaced out, it was genuinely nice to just spend time together :) These days, even if the food is amazing, if the tables are packed too close together or the place is too chaotic, it's uncomfortable to have a long conversation on a date, right? T_T

Spacious dining hall good for conversation

The interior here is fairly spacious and the design is a bit different from your typical Western restaurant, so I think it would suit anyone looking for a good Haeundae date spot.

And since it's not just pasta — there's steak, pizza, gnocchi, and salad too — it seemed like a solid choice not just for dates but for birthdays, anniversaries, get-togethers with friends, or family dinners :)

Table setting suited for gatherings and celebrations

I was initially curious about Smith's Farm just because of the unusual name, but visiting in person, it turned out to be a Haeundae Western restaurant with a clear concept, from the space to the food. That stone octopus steak was seriously amazing... and it's such a great spot for a date that I even recommended it to another couple of friends after eating there!

Make sure to read the parking sign too! If you're tired of the same old spots in Haeundae and looking for a restaurant with a bit of a different atmosphere, save Smith's Farm for later 🌿
