Daejeon burger restaurant, double cheese and garlic fries: Burgiz
In short
Burgiz Daeheung is a local handmade burger restaurant newly opened in Daeheung-dong, Jung-gu, Daejeon. The order was a Hangover burger set and a Double Cheese burger set with garlic sauce added for the fries, and the rich double patty and the freshly fried fries stood out most. Burgiz Daeheung is worth keeping on the shortlist when you are near Sungsimdang and can't decide what to eat.

When I heard that Burgiz, the handmade burger spot I love in Tanbang-dong, had opened a new branch in Daeheung-dong, Daejeon, I rushed right over!

How the Daeheung branch differs from Tanbang, Galma and Gwanpyeong
I'm a big fan of Burgiz among handmade burger places and have been to the Tanbang branch many times, plus visited Galma and Gwanpyeong before — but Daeheung has a distinctly different atmosphere.

The interior is clean and bright with generous space between tables, so it looks great for solo diners too!

What two people ordered at Burgiz Daeheung, plus a sauce tip
The two of us ordered the Hangover burger set and the Double Cheese burger set, and added a garlic sauce for the fries! You can't swap the fries for ones with a different sauce for an extra charge, so if you want a different sauce, I'd recommend buying the sauce separately or ordering fries as a single item.

Self-serve drink bar and sauce corner
When you order, they bring you a cup filled with ice, and drinks are self-serve. They had zero-sugar drinks in multiple flavors, which I personally loved.

Next to the drinks there's a sink and sauces for dipping fries. I saw mustard, sriracha, hot sauce and more — nice to mix and match to your taste.

True to fast food form, the food comes out really quickly, and looking at it again, doesn't it look gorgeous and delicious? haha

What comes in the Hangover and Double Cheese burger sets
Hangover burger: beef patty, American cheese, grilled onion, lettuce, tomato, bacon, hash brown, fried egg, BBQ sauce
Double Cheese burger: double patty, double cheese, Burgiz sauce
I love hash browns so I ordered the Hangover, the signature burger, while my husband ordered the Double Cheese burger.

How the Double Cheese burger tastes
The Double Cheese burger has two stacked patties for a rich, luscious bite, with cheese in the middle giving it a salty, savory kick — really tasty! My husband said Burgiz's double cheese is even better than the In-N-Out burger he had in the US, haha!

How the Hangover burger tastes
Just looking at the cross-section of the Hangover, you can tell it's packed with all sorts of things, right? A thick patty plus hash brown and egg — you'd think it might not work, but the different textures come together beautifully once you take a bite! haha Add the crispy bacon on top and I found this a burger I never get tired of eating, no matter how much haha.

Are the garlic sauce fries worth the extra 800 won?
These fries 🍟 were so good. Buying the sauce as a single item is only ₩800, and the portion is generous, so I'd recommend adding at least one sauce instead of sticking with just ketchup. Burgiz's garlic sauce has a subtle, well-balanced garlic aroma that's really delicious~~ haha You can taste the care that went into making the sauce! The fries themselves also taste freshly fried in good oil, not old oil, which makes them even more delicious.
Which Burgiz burger should you order?
For me, the only downside of Burgiz used to be that it was far from my house, but that disappeared once the Daeheung branch opened, haha. It's a handmade burger spot that only exists in Daejeon, so I feel a real sense of pride about it — if a friend from out of town comes to visit Daejeon and is wondering what to eat around Sungsimdang, this is a solid candidate. Is there anyone who hates hamburgers? Haha.
I had the signature Hangover this time, but I've also tried the Mushroom and the Godfather at other branches before — Burgiz's signature menu is always a safe bet, so order based on your own taste!
- Want a rich, hearty burger with lots of flavors? Try the Hangover!
- Want a classic burger where cheese, patty, and tangy dill pickle come together? Try the Godfather!
- A mushroom lover who wants savory cheese too? Try the Mushroom burger!
With so many burger varieties to suit different tastes, I strongly recommend Burgiz Daeheung, the handmade burger spot near Jung-ang-ro Station 👏👏
