Today I want to introduce a place I'd totally recommend if you're craving beef in Daejeon~ It's Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang Daejeon Gayang Branch!! If you're on the hunt for a great beef spot in Daejeon, this one's worth keeping an eye on!!

Location and parking — near Daejeon Station and the university area, 12 spots front and back

Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang Daejeon Gayang Branch is close to Daejeon Station and near Woosong University, Daejeon University, and Daejeon Health Institute of Technology, so it's a really convenient stop if you have business nearby or are just visiting the area!

And parking is something I quietly care a lot about when picking a restaurant — here, there's plenty of space both in front and behind the building! There's a dedicated Hanmaeum Jeongyuk Sikdang lot in back that fits about 7-8 cars, plus room for about 4 more out front, so it was really convenient to visit by car~~

Good for family meals and get-togethers? 20 tables for 4 plus a group room

The interior is really spacious too! It's set up with tables for 4 — there are more than 20 of them — and a lot of them can be pushed together for groups of 8. There's also group seating in a room, so I thought this would be a great spot for family gatherings or team dinners!!

A play area right next to the seats

There was one more thing I really liked here — a play area for kids!! Right next to the seating, there's a spacious play area where kids can have fun, so parents can keep an eye on them while eating!

Eating out with kids can be stressful since you worry they'll get bored. But here, since they can play right nearby, parents get to eat a little more comfortably~~

Maybe that's why the place filled up fast once mealtime hit — there were guests of all ages, all walks of life! Lots of families with kids, lots of groups too~ It seemed like a restaurant that suits everything from family dinners to team get-togethers!!

The 600g beef platter — just right for two

Now let me introduce the menu~~ This place serves not just beef but pork and even lamb! We ordered the whole beef platter!! It's made up of jinngalbisal + galbisal + bone-in galbi + bucchaesal + woo-samgyeop, 600g total! It was really good for two people to share~~ I also liked getting to try several cuts at once!

A dedicated burner for doenjang jjigae, and refills before you even ask

Once you order, they set the table with the basic side dishes! Have any of you ever seen a Korean BBQ restaurant with a dedicated burner just for doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew)?! I'd never seen that before!! Here, there's a separate burner so you can keep the stew hot all the way through! When you're eating meat and taking small spoonfuls of the stew here and there, it usually cools down fast — but here you can eat it warm until the very end, which was really nice~~ And it tasted great too!!

And there was something else that really impressed me! While we were eating, a staff member came around and refilled the doenjang jjigae without us even asking! They even loaded it up generously with the solid ingredients, not skimping at all... I was genuinely touched. I've never experienced a restaurant like this before!!

Steamed egg, and pajeori with glass noodles

They also serve steamed egg as a basic side dish!! I really love it when a Korean BBQ restaurant gives you steamed egg~~ From steamed egg to perilla leaf salad, kimchi, bean sprouts, pajeori, lettuce wraps and more — everything came out, and every single side dish was delicious!! The chef must really have a great hand for this!!

I especially loved the pajeori (scallion salad). The sauce alone had this deep savory flavor, and on top of that it had glass noodles mixed in, so you could eat it almost like jjolmyeon (chewy cold noodles)!! Such a clever touch!! My partner normally doesn't eat pajeori, but they said this one was so good and piled it onto the meat and finished it all haha. That's how good it was!!

The taste of each cut — galbisal, bone-in galbi, jinngalbi

And finally, we grilled the meat we'd been waiting for!! Once you order, the owner personally trims it in the kitchen before serving — the meat looked really good in quality!

Grilled beef cut and sliced

I love galbisal (short rib flap meat), so I grilled that first, and it had this chewy, fresh texture!!! Beef gets disappointing if you overcook it, so we grilled it just right — you could feel the juices, and the texture was really good~~

And since there were so many different side dishes, it was even better being able to combine them with the meat in different ways! The bone-in galbi was also really delicious! It was pure tender beef ㅠㅠ it melted in my mouth, it was so good — I want to eat it again just writing about it now...

Since several cuts were served together, it was fun trying them one by one~~ The jinngalbi had a subtle beefy aroma that I loved! Both the range of cuts and the flavor were so good that I kept thinking, 'ah, I really want to recommend this place' the entire time we were eating!!

The call bell that goes 'moo~'

And here's a cute detail about this restaurant!! When you press the call bell, instead of a ding-dong sound, it goes 'moo~' like a cow haha. I laughed so hard the first time I heard it haha. It's not annoying like a regular ding-dong alert, and every time it goes 'moo~' it's just kind of funny and fun!! Little touches like this stick in your memory haha.

Why it felt clean for a Korean BBQ place

The owner and staff were all really thoughtful and kind! Whenever a customer called for them, they responded super quickly and took care of whatever was needed right away.

And at a Korean BBQ restaurant, you'd expect some greasiness in the air, right? But this place wasn't like that at all — it felt really clean overall! I thought that was surprising, and then I noticed while they were clearing tables, they even wiped down the chairs after clearing! I'm not exaggerating, right?! That's really impressive!!! Even though it's a Korean BBQ place, it felt well managed and clean, which put me in a good mood the whole meal~~

Who I'd recommend this to

I'm definitely coming back!! I don't think I've ever been this satisfied with a restaurant — the food was so good, and more than anything, I was in a great mood the whole time I was eating! Easy parking, a spacious dining room, delicious meat, delicious side dishes, kind staff, and even a play area for kids — this place had a lot going for it in so many ways~~
