I was heading to Sinnonhyeon Station and suddenly craved beef for the first time in a while, so I stopped by — and it turned out I'd picked really well at this Sinnonhyeon BBQ spot, Deo Bareun Jeongyuk Sikdang!

Given the location and the fact that it's hanwoo (Korean beef), the price seemed cheap enough that I doubted the meat quality... but no need to worry at all, it was a genuinely great restaurant.

One minute from Sinnonhyeon Station Exit 3, plus corkage-free

It was so accessible — barely a minute's walk from Exit 3 of Sinnonhyeon Station. It's right on the main road so it was easy to find, and the black-toned sign stood out well even at night. There was a corkage-free sign set up near the entrance, which is such a rare find for a Gangnam BBQ spot.

Interior mood and seating

Walking inside, wood-toned walls lined with green-colored seats gave off a subtly upscale feel. The lighting wasn't too harsh and the warm color tones made for a comfortable atmosphere, and the tables were spaced generously enough to have a conversation without worrying about the next table over.

One wall was covered with celebrity signatures, which was fun to look at, and whiskey and wine were displayed toward the back of the store, adding a nice decorative touch. There are actually rooms too and the interior is spacious and comfortable, but it was so crowded I couldn't get photos of everything, argh.

Since it's a butcher restaurant, there's even a butcher-shop-style showcase for aging the meat?!

There was even a small tank because the menu includes things like lobster ramyeon.

Basic table setting and side dishes

Since I'd made a reservation, the table was already set when I arrived. The lettuce and wrapping greens were fresh, and with baek-kimchi (white kimchi), pa-kimchi (green onion kimchi), myeong-i namul (wild garlic leaves) and more, the side dishes leaned tangy and cut through the richness that comes with eating beef — I liked that. The sauces were also mild rather than sharp, so they didn't overpower the meat's own flavor.

The ₩139,000 Right One Cow set — a great portion for two

That day we ordered the Right One Cow set along with doenjang sulbap. The Right One Cow set is ₩139,000 for 500g of hanwoo plus yukhoe — the perfect amount for two people.

The moment the hanwoo arrived, the marbling immediately caught my eye. It was arranged by cut with different textures, so we could work through everything from the softest cut to the chewier ones in order. My AI assistant told me it looked like sirloin, striploin, and skirt steak.

Sirloin

Sirloin went on first. The marbling spread out densely like flower petals, so one bite melted softly.

A friendly staff member grilled it for us right at the table, so there was no need to worry about fire control — we just got to eat comfortably.

They even cut it and plated it like this for us — cooked to just the right doneness, not chewy at all. It made me think, they're really using good cuts here.

Dipped lightly in salt and wasabi, the meat's own subtle sweetness came through gently.

Striploin

The striploin had a finer grain with evenly spread marbling, so the more you chewed, the more the savory juices spread. Maybe because it's beef, it was intensely savory and the flesh was so tender — delicious.

Skirt steak

The skirt steak had a slightly chewier texture with a deeper, lingering flavor. If the striploin before it was soft and had that classic beef taste, the skirt steak was comparatively cleaner-tasting. There's a reason this is a well-known Sinnonhyeon BBQ spot.

Yukhoe included in the set

The yukhoe (beef tartare) that came with the set had fresh texture with a subtle sesame oil aroma, making it great for cleansing the palate between rounds of grilled meat. It had a slightly sweet flavor too!

Finishing with doenjang sulbap

To finish, we ordered doenjang sulbap — a rich soybean-paste base loaded with meat, tofu, zucchini and more, giving it a hearty, spicy-ish yet deep flavor. Especially if you're drinking... doenjang sulbap is a must!

Good for company dinners, dates, and family gatherings

Deo Bareun Jeongyuk Sikdang is a place I'd easily recommend for a company dinner, a date, or a family gathering. With good prices and good taste, if you're looking for a Sinnonhyeon BBQ spot, I don't think you'll regret a visit.
