₩2,000 doenjang-jjigae after Jeju pork BBQ near Sinnonhyeon Station

In short

Deo Bareun Jeongyuk Sikdang Gangnam Sinnonhyeon Station Main Branch is a Jeju pork and Korean beef BBQ restaurant on Gangnam-daero near Sinnonhyeon Station in Seoul. A group of drinkers ordered 600g of Jeju geungogi (thick-cut pork) — samgyeopsal, mokssal, hangjeongsal and gabrisal — grilled entirely by staff, then finished with a 2,000-won doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew) mixed with rice. No one had to grill, so the soju and beer just kept flowing — a solid pick for a Gangnam group dinner.

Hello! It's Meokjjang!!

You all know how picky a group of drinkers gets when choosing a BBQ spot, right? Haha. Meat quality is a given, but you also need clean side dishes, the comfort of someone else grilling for you, and soup-based bar snacks to keep the drinks flowing without a break! This time our drinking crew hit up a real gem near Sinnonhyeon and properly demolished the soju and beer, so let me introduce it right away!!!

Here's my honest review of Deo Bareun Jeongyuk Sikdang Gangnam Sinnonhyeon Station Main Branch, where the thick Jeju geungogi (thick-cut pork) and the finishing doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew) rice snack were both perfect!!

An entrance with an aging fridge and a live lobster tank

The bright red meat-aging fridge at the entrance

The moment you walk in, the spacious, clean interior catches your eye! Right at the entrance there's a bright red meat-aging fridge that immediately grabs your attention 🥩. Seeing the meat actually aging in front of you gives you this 'ah, they're really serious about meat quality here' kind of trust, haha. And the even more amazing part is that there's a real tank with lobster, a premium side menu item, right at the entrance haha. Fresh lobster at a BBQ place?! The visuals alone scream top-tier fancy, making it a great pick if you're coming here as a Sinnonhyeon go-to restaurant or a Gangnam evening group dinner spot to set the mood!!

The interior also has generous spacing between hall tables, so it never feels cramped, and there's separate private room seating for a more intimate experience! Perfect for a quiet gathering or a private company dinner, haha.

So I got so excited the second I saw the meat that I forgot to photograph the menu board, haha. As a workaround I grabbed these from Naver Maps instead haha (a blogger's persistence). From top-grade Korean beef down to the Jeju geungogi we were determined to demolish today, plus a variety of meal/side dishes including lobster, it's all well stocked! The drinks menu is also super varied, making it perfect for a group dinner!!!

Side dishes and charcoal

A neatly set table of side dishes
Pickled vegetables and seasoned lettuce side dishes

Now for the real eating time, haha. Once you sit down, the side dishes get set — neat and clean! From pickled vegetables that go perfectly with meat to seasoned lettuce and salad, each side dish has that homemade touch, good enough for a shot of soju even before the meat arrives, haha.

A grill with lit charcoal

Enter the good-quality charcoal!!

600g of Jeju black pork geungogi, grilled entirely by staff

A plate of scored Jeju black pork geungogi, 600g

We went full pork-party mode today and ordered the Jeju black pork geungogi! Everyone gasped the moment it arrived just looking at the thickness, haha. It's seriously insane how thick it is haha. The geungogi set consists of samgyeopsal (pork belly), mokssal (pork neck), hangjeongsal (pork jowl), and gabrisal (600g), all thick cuts arriving with beautifully scored surfaces, haha.

Perfectly grilled hangjeongsal and gabrisal

And the best part is that the staff grill the meat with care from start to finish, haha. When drinkers gather, if one person has to focus on grilling, it breaks the drinking flow, right? Here, they handle it all with the perfect grilling level, so we just kept refilling soju and beer glasses and eating — genuinely convenient and great!!!

A piece of Jeju geungogi dipped in salt

Dip a well-grilled piece of Jeju geungogi in salt and pop it in your mouth — crispy outside, juices bursting inside — a flavor that absolutely demands soju!!

The bubbling ₩2,000 dessert doenjang-jjigae

Mixing rice into the ₩2,000 dessert doenjang-jjigae

After filling up on meat, we were wondering what to have for a finishing meal when they told us the dessert doenjang-jjigae is only 2,000 won!! (nurungji and rice not included). At today's prices, a 2,000-won doenjang-jjigae is impossible to pass up, haha. We ordered it immediately and added rice on top! Rice is truly the ultimate soju snack, haha. Drop the rice straight into the bubbling doenjang-jjigae and mix it in tight for an instant doenjang-jjageuri (thick stew) — perfectly done! The salty, savory broth soaks right into the rice grains, so one shot of soju and a spoonful and you feel refreshed while the soju keeps flowing again, haha. Rice plus doenjang-jjigae — a truly perfect finish!!!

Overall review

We came here as a group of drinkers and left fully satisfied with the meat quality, service, and cost-effective meal menu, haha.

  • Meat aging fridge & lobster tank: a feast for the eyes right from the entrance with fresh aged meat visuals and a premium lobster tank!
  • Comfortable space & room seating: generous table spacing plus private rooms — highly recommended for Gangnam evening group dinners or gatherings!
  • Grilling service: enjoy the best meat flavor comfortably without lifting a finger!
  • Meat & side dish quality: thick, juicy Jeju geungogi and a perfect Korean beef lineup!
