Busan shabu kalguksu restaurant, clear broth lunch: Yunujae
In short
Yunujae Munhyeon Shabu Kalguksu is a shabu kalguksu restaurant in Nam-gu, Busan. My friend and I skipped the lunch rush and had the medium-spicy white broth with extra sirloin and egg, finishing with house-made noodles and fried rice. ✔️ Please note that the entrance for resident parking and the entrance for visitors to the commercial complex are different 😊

After parking underground and coming outside, you will spot Yunujae Munhyeon Shabu Kalguksu, the place everyone talks about in Munhyeon-dong haha.

Lunch waiting and seating
Just as you would expect from a popular Munhyeon-dong restaurant, there is a wait at lunchtime, so my friend and I avoided peak lunch hours and arrived around 1:30 p.m. 😊

There are group tables, so it looked like a good spot for gatherings. After I took my photos, families started coming in haha. There were also customers dining alone!!
High chairs and aprons are available, so keep that in mind 🙌
Yunujae Munhyeon Shabu Kalguksu is such a great-value restaurant at ₩11,000 per person~! The shabu kalguksu includes sirloin, mushrooms, house-made kalguksu (knife-cut noodles), and fried rice, so there were solo diners too. Since it is such a popular place, lots of older locals came by as well 👍
Choosing the medium white broth

You can choose your broth 🍜 The red broth is the signature, based on beef bone stock and gochujang, while the white broth is a clear stock made with southern-coast anchovies and Wando kelp. We chose the white broth at the medium level that day 👍

At the self-service station, there is kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), kimchi, and broths in mild, medium, and spicy levels~!

I was exhausted after discussing maternity photos that day, but got greedy and added extra sirloin! Ohcheon, eat lots 🫶
Yunujae Munhyeon Shabu Kalguksu comes loaded with all kinds of vegetables, including minari (water dropwort) and mushrooms 🙌
The included fried rice and noodles came out together, and we also added an egg to have with the fried rice 🥚
This was the whole spread haha. It was incredibly generous, way too much for the two of us, so we left a little of the fried rice at the end,,, I seriously wanted to pack it up because it felt such a waste!!!!!
I think you can have the sauces according to your personal taste. Since I do not like wasabi, I ate mine with soy sauce only 😊
How to eat it, from meat to noodles and fried rice

At this great Busan kalguksu spot, Munhyeon Shabu Kalguksu, every table has instructions for how to eat it deliciously, so we followed them exactly!!

They say you should add the meat before the broth boils, but I was talking and missed the moment, so I put it in after it boiled ^^
My friend putting all the sirloin in at once hahaha. Let that broth get flavorful hahaha.

The meat cooks quickly, so I dipped it in soy sauce, and wow, it was so good that my friend and I made eye contact after one bite hahaha. I had been thinking maybe we should have chosen the signature beef-bone broth, but nope~~~ It was so clean and delicious that I even ate all the vegetables I normally would not eat hahaha.

My friend usually eats only meat at shabu places, but said this was the first time they had eaten so many mushrooms because the broth was so good hahaha. And the minari that came with it was so delicious too,,!

After finishing the meat, it was time for the noodles!! I wondered why there was an hourglass, but it was for the kalguksu hahaha.
Set the induction burner to level 6, turn over the hourglass, and eat after 5 minutes!!

Looks so good,,, With broth this good, there is no way it could be bad!!!! The two of us cleared all the kalguksu too hahaha.
Finally, fried rice! Leave just one ladleful of broth, transfer everything to an empty bowl, set the induction burner to level 3, and stir-fry it!!!
Add the egg midway through and stir it again hahaha. My friend, you are busy hahaha.
The fried rice was so good too, since it had the flavors of vegetables and meat from the shabu-shabu broth! It was especially delicious with crunchy kimchi midway through. We left some because we were so full, but I wanted to pack up the leftovers,, 👍
