It was a Friday evening after a long busy day, and I just wanted to eat something good and quietly unwind. After work, I decided to finally go alone to HEOD Gongdeok, a place I'd been wanting to visit for a while :)

HEOD Gongdeok is an all-day brunch restaurant on Gwangseong-ro 6-gil in Mapo-gu, Seoul, right next to the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail. I walked along the trail and stepped in, and I liked it immediately — the atmosphere felt warm even from outside.

It's a great spot to duck into while walking the trail, with a clean, calm exterior, and stepping inside kept that same warm, comfortable feeling going.

Is HEOD Gongdeok comfortable for solo dining in the evening?

The tables inside HEOD Gongdeok were spaced fairly generously, which made for a comfortable meal, and the overall look was tidy and put-together — good for gatherings or family meals too. It felt like a nice place to catch a bit of calm near the busy area around Gongdeok Station.

I visited in the evening, and there was a mix of families, couples, and friends. As someone dining alone, I didn't feel out of place at all — it was a comfortable atmosphere for solo dining.

The seat I got that day was especially good. Since I'd made a reservation, they'd kept it set aside for me. It was a terrace-side window seat, and seeing the Gyeongui Line Forest Trail through the window made even the waiting time feel oddly pleasant.

During the day, it looks like a great spot to enjoy brunch while looking out at the green trail, and in the evening, soft lighting comes on and gives it a different mood entirely. Sitting alone, looking out the window and eating something good, I could feel the day's fatigue slowly melting away.

What's on the menu at HEOD Gongdeok

HEOD Gongdeok's menu ranges from salads to pasta, risotto, pilaf, French toast, and sides. It's great for brunch, but the lineup also works fine for an after-work dinner like mine.

What I ordered was the seafood salad with added pasta. I originally planned to just get the salad, but since it was dinner, I figured it might feel a bit light, so I added pasta noodles.

It's loaded with fresh vegetables, fruit, cheese, shrimp, and other seafood, and adding the pasta noodles made it feel less like a plain salad and more like a salad-pasta hybrid.

The tangy sauce paired well with the noodles — I think anyone who likes cold pasta would definitely enjoy this.

Why the 5,500 won mashed potato add-on is worth ordering

And here's my personal recommendation ✔️ the mashed potato add-on (₩5,500). Adding warm, soft mashed potato to the cold, tangy seafood salad shifted the temperature and texture within a single plate, so I never got tired of it, all the way to the last bite.

A Gongdeok restaurant that works for solo meals, dates and family dinners

What I loved about HEOD Gongdeok wasn't just the food. The space itself felt genuinely comfortable. The table spacing and overall vibe weren't overwhelming, and even with a decent number of guests, it never felt loud.
