Lately I've been drawn to a style that's less about heavy makeup and more about clear-looking skin with just gently refined features, so I went to Comma Hair & Makeup in Hongdae this time. I already had a pretty specific look in mind before going, so I saved a few reference photos from Pinterest to bring along.

Honestly, on this day I still had a bruise on my face from a procedure I'd had recently.

So that was my biggest worry going into the makeup session. But instead of covering it by layering on a thick base all over, they carefully covered just the spots that needed it, and it turned out way more natural than I expected.

Eyes, lashes, and brows: how natural did they look?

For the eyes too, like in the reference I brought, I asked for something clear-looking rather than heavy shading or a flashy look.

During the eye makeup, the lashes were applied — even with my somewhat deep-set eyes, they came out looking natural, right?

And here's the part I really loved. My brows looked so natural.

I was done by the head manager!! She was really kind, skilled, and fast with her hands. With hair included, the whole thing took about 1 hour 10–20 minutes. She even gave me a bit of the touch-up lip shade to take home 🪽🪽

When you only get makeup done and have to do your hair separately, that often eats up a lot of extra time — but here you can get hair done in the same session, which made getting ready for an important day much easier 🫶🏻

Hair finished in soft, natural waves

For hair, just like with the makeup, they went with natural waves that didn't clash with the overall mood. Sometimes hair and makeup look great separately but don't match once combined — but this time it stayed close to the reference mood I showed at the start and came together naturally.

When I looked in the mirror afterward, I loved it so much 🤍🤍 The bruise I'd been worried about was covered better than I expected, and my whole face still didn't feel smothered in base. The brows looked natural too — overall it was exactly the clear, clean makeup I wanted ☘️
