Gangnam Korean BBQ friend gathering under ₩80,000: Bongu Hwarro 20th
In short
Bongu Hwarro is a charcoal grill Korean BBQ restaurant behind CGV Gangnam in Gangnam, Seoul. A high school friend group started with pork belly and pork neck, added beef rib meat, and finished with naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles), yet the bill came to just over ₩80,000 thanks to the restaurant's 20th anniversary 50% off additional meat promotion and a free Hangang ramyeon per person. Great meat quality for the price, and a solid pick for a Gangnam group dinner.

When you're looking for a spot near Gangnam Station for a get-together or a work dinner, a Korean BBQ place is always a solid choice, right? I recently went with my high school friends to Bongu Hwarro, a charcoal grill Korean BBQ restaurant tucked behind CGV Gangnam! I'd heard about it as a Gangnam Station favorite for a while, and after actually visiting, it's currently running a 50% off promotion with great value for money, so I brought you a review!
Location and business info

It's within a 7-minute walk from Gangnam Station Exit 11, so getting there was no hassle at all. There can be a wait at peak hours, so I'd recommend booking through Naver Reservation before you go!
A cozy atmosphere and the charm of charcoal grilling

The moment you step through the entrance, the faint smell of charcoal drifting through the air already gets your appetite going before you've even sat down..🤤

The interior had a cozy, comfortable vibe, the kind of place that works whether you're with friends, a partner, or family! The dining room is on the bigger side too, so it looked great for a group dinner. If you're looking for a Gangnam Station BBQ spot for a work gathering, I'd recommend this place.
What we ordered

We started with pork belly and pork neck, then added beef rib meat!

Starting with pork belly and pork neck! Thick, quality cuts turning golden brown on the charcoal grill, packed with savory juices ✨

Beef rib meat was personally my favorite dish of the day! Just the right marbling with a chewy texture — the more you chew, the more the umami builds. Definitely add the beef rib meat!

There's no table-side grilling service here, but the price is so good relative to the meat quality that grilling it ourselves felt completely fine!

The side dishes (banchan) were generous too, and the pickled green onions in particular paired perfectly with the meat. My friends couldn't stop going back to the nostalgic pink sausage haha.

Insane value: the 20th anniversary discount event
When it came time to pay, all my friends were shocked at the receipt haha. A group of adults ate until we were stuffed, and it still came to just over ₩80,000! Turns out they're currently running a 20th anniversary event ✨

We figured we'd grease the pan with pork first, then move on to beef — and thanks to how great the promotion was, the total came out lower than expected 👍
- 50% off additional meat orders
- A free steaming Hangang ramyeon per person
I couldn't help thinking, if people kept having their get-togethers here, the restaurant would run out of meat haha.
✅ Tip: Order pork for each person first, then add beef on top — the 50% discount still applies.
The perfect finish: naengmyeon

After greasing up on meat, you can't skip naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles) as a palate cleanser to finish! Bongu Hwarro's naengmyeon is made Hamhung-style, hand-kneaded fresh each day. Maybe that's why the noodles had such a springy, bouncy texture.

If you want a clean, refreshing broth like I do, go for the water naengmyeon (mul-naengmyeon); if you want that sweet-and-spicy sauce, the bibim naengmyeon is the way to go — both are a great combo 🤤

If you want to enjoy quality charcoal-grilled Korean BBQ without breaking the bank, make sure to visit Bongu Hwarro near Gangnam Station — a 2026 Blue Ribbon pick — before the 20th anniversary half-price event ends!
