Gangnam Korean BBQ with free ramyeon and shrimp powder: Bongu Hwarro
In short
Bongu Hwarro is a charcoal-grilled pork belly restaurant on Bongeunsa-ro 18-gil in Gangnam, Seoul. Visiting during its 20th-anniversary event, the writer had 2 servings of pork belly plus a half-price extra serving, turned the free ramyeon (instant noodles) into shrimp ramyeon with shrimp powder, and finished with ice cream and Jori Pong cereal. Eating from meat to dessert felt like a full course — a satisfying visit.

I went to Bongu Hwarro (봉우화로). I happened to visit right during their 20th-anniversary event!

If you order extra meat, it's half price, plus you get 1 free ramyeon per person, and even ice cream + Jori Pong cereal for free — I knew I had to really go for it haha. Eating meat, then ramyeon, then dessert all in one sitting felt like a full course, and I was completely satisfied. Here's the review~~
Bongu Hwarro's 20th-anniversary event: half price on extra meat
What caught my eye most on this visit was the event itself. For their 20th anniversary, ordering extra meat gets you half price!

We originally only planned to order 2 servings of pork belly, but once we heard extra meat was half price, we couldn't resist lol. So we had 2 servings and added 1 more, for 3 total.

And since 1 ramyeon per person was free, we made sure to eat that too after the meat. Then at the end, ice cream and Jori Pong were free as well! Meat, then ramyeon, then dessert — it turned out to be a much more substantial event than I expected.
Banchan spread like a full-course table

The moment we sat down, this is what was laid out. Wow, the visual was no joke! How many side dishes is that??

The kimchi varieties were really diverse too — scallion kimchi, radish salad...

There was even pink sausage and soy-marinated crab — seriously, it was generous enough to rival a proper hanjeongsik (Korean full-course) restaurant!!
3 servings of pork belly and spicy bulnaengmyeon

Of course we had to start with the meat! We first ordered 2 servings of pork belly. Watching it turn golden brown on the grill — meat is always delicious no matter when you eat it haha.

Cooked just right, one bite in and the juices were still alive with a nice chewy texture. And as we kept eating, that half-price extra meat event kept popping into my head lol.

In the end we added another serving, for 3 servings of pork belly total! At times like this, just enjoying it is the right answer, isn't it?! Because the extra meat was half price, I found myself reaching for one more piece, and then another, more freely than usual haha.

Eating meat without naengmyeon (cold noodles) just feels wrong, right? So we ordered a bulnaengmyeon (spicy cold noodles) to go with the pork belly. Eating a bite of meat with the spicy noodles cut the greasiness — great combo.
A few bites of meat, a bite of noodles, back to the meat again~ isn't that half the fun of eating at a BBQ place haha.
Making the most of the free ramyeon — the shrimp powder combo is gold

Personally, the most fun part of Bongu Hwarro's 20th-anniversary event was the ramyeon. Since 1 free ramyeon per person was included, we cooked one up. But at the ramyeon station, there was shrimp powder ready to go? Couldn't pass that up lol.

I tried adding the shrimp powder into the ramyeon and wow... the shrimp aroma came through way more than expected, and it tasted like actual shrimp ramyeon?!
The broth flavor changed dramatically compared to eating it plain — really surprising. If you like shrimp, you have to try adding this.

Dessert: ice cream with Jori Pong
Now for the real finale haha. At Bongu Hwarro, ice cream and Jori Pong cereal were also free. After the meat and the ramyeon, finishing with ice cream and Jori Pong really made it feel like a proper multi-course meal.
Putting Jori Pong on top of the ice cream and eating them together gives a nice crunch — it's delicious. It's a low-key delicacy, so even when full, you keep eating lol.

On this visit to Bongu Hwarro, we thoroughly enjoyed 3 servings of pork belly, bulnaengmyeon, and free ramyeon, then finished with ice cream + Jori Pong. Thanks to the half-price extra meat event, we got an extra serving of pork belly and even shrimp powder in our ramyeon — it ended up being a much more substantial experience than I expected.

What I liked most was that it wasn't just meat and done — we got to enjoy everything from ramyeon to dessert, so it really felt like a full course haha. If you visit during Bongu Hwarro's 20th-anniversary event, be sure to take advantage of the extra-meat discount and enjoy the ramyeon plus ice cream + Jori Pong too :) Mission accomplished — ate well during the event!!
