Suwon café with a sweet decaf vanilla latte and cookie: Jeong Jiyeong

I kept thinking about the signature coconut drink I loved here before ☕ This time, I decided to try the decaf menu instead.

While I was at Starfield Suwon, I stopped by Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters Starfield Suwon Branch (정지영커피로스터즈 스타필드수원점) for a coffee. I'd had a really good signature coconut drink there before, so I wanted to go back. This time I was in the mood for a latte, so I picked the decaf vanilla latte.

Where is Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters Starfield Suwon Branch?

If you're looking for good places to eat or grab coffee at Starfield Suwon, Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters Starfield Suwon Branch sits right on the 2nd floor. It's a great spot to take a break while shopping, and beyond coffee, you can browse desserts and coffee beans too.

Near the entrance, there was a display case full of cakes and other desserts. I told myself I'd just get coffee, but seeing desserts like this always makes me want to grab one too, haha.

Choosing your beans in person at the Suwon roastery counter

There was a corner where you could smell the coffee beans directly. Even if you don't usually know much about coffee aromas, this kind of hands-on smelling station is fun to check out if you're a coffee lover.

The menu had a wide range too, from coffee to lattes to non-coffee drinks. And there was one detail I noticed.

There was a sign saying pregnant customers get a free switch to decaf. It's a nice thing to keep in mind when you're ordering.

Here's what we ordered at Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters Starfield Suwon Branch that day:

I was in the mood for a latte, so I chose the decaf vanilla latte, and my husband had the decaf iced americano. We also picked up a peanut strawberry cookie to go with the coffee.

How sweet is the decaf vanilla latte?

First, the decaf vanilla latte I had. I was quietly looking forward to it because of how much I'd enjoyed the signature coconut drink before, but it turned out sweeter than I expected.

I wondered if it would've been better with a little less syrup, and at some point while drinking it I thought, 'Should I have just gotten the coconut drink instead?' 😂 Of course, this might be totally fine for people who like sweet drinks — this is just my personal taste.

The decaf iced americano: strongly bitter

The decaf iced americano my husband had was also a bit underwhelming compared to what we'd hoped for. Maybe because we remembered the coconut drink so fondly, this time the coffee menu tasted a little different from what we expected. Next time we visit, I'd like to try something else on the menu.

Peanut strawberry cookie: nutty, sweet and good with coffee

Still, out of everything we had that day, I liked the peanut strawberry cookie the most. The nutty flavor combined with strawberry jam made it perfect to eat alongside coffee. Especially paired with the decaf iced americano, the cookie's sweetness matched the coffee nicely, making for a light and enjoyable dessert, haha.

One side of the store had a variety of coffee beans on display. Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters offers more than just coffee to drink — it's fun to browse and pick out beans, so it's worth a look if you love coffee.

Honest verdict on Jeong Jiyeong Coffee Roasters Starfield Suwon

I went back thinking about the coconut drink I'd enjoyed so much before, but this time what I ordered tasted a bit different from what I expected. The decaf vanilla latte was sweeter than I anticipated, and the decaf iced americano had a fairly strong bitterness, which was a bit disappointing for me personally.

Still, the peanut strawberry cookie was nutty and sweet, and went well with the coffee. Next time I visit, I think I'll order the signature coconut drink I loved before. ☺️ I've written down my honest impressions from trying it myself. 🐥
