Suwon café with mall parking and butter rice cake: Café Meomureum
In short
Café Meomureum is a spacious bakery café on the 2nd floor of Dongsin Complex Mall in Jeongja-dong, Suwon. A post-meal stop brought coffee and warm yuja (citron) tea with three butter rice cakes for 5,000 won plus a salt bread, and the crisp-outside, chewy-inside rice cakes and lightly salty bread both went well with the coffee. Despite the mall's aging exterior, Café Meomureum has generously spaced seats and use of the mall parking lot, making it an easy place to rest when driving.

A must-visit spot in Jeongja-dong, Suwon: Café Meomureum

Where is Café Meomureum in Jeongja-dong, Suwon?
Café Meomureum is a bakery café on the 2nd floor of the Dongsin Apartment Complex Mall in Jeongja-dong, Suwon. After a trip to Suwon and a meal, it felt like a shame to just head home, so I went looking for somewhere to sit down with a coffee — and that's how I found Café Meomureum.

Café Meomureum sits on the 2nd floor of the Dongsin Apartment Complex Mall.
- Address: 226 Jangan-ro, Jangan-gu, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do, 2nd floor, Dongsin Complex Mall
- Hours: Mon–Fri 09:00–20:00 (break 15:00–17:00), Sat–Sun 10:00–20:00
- Amenities: group seating, takeout, delivery, reservations, wifi, mobile payment
- Parking: available
Parking is available in the mall's own lot, so there was no real hassle even coming by car. The mall building itself shows its age, but stepping inside the café, the atmosphere was completely different.
Once you head up to the 2nd floor, there's a sign pointing to Café Meomureum, so it wasn't hard to find at all.
Looking at the shabby exterior of the mall, I never would have guessed there was a café this big inside…

Inside Café Meomureum: seating and atmosphere
Opening the door, I was a little surprised at how spacious the place turned out to be — much bigger than I expected.
The clean interior, white-toned with green accents, had plants scattered throughout that gave it a fresh feel. Colorful lighting paired with comfortable sofa seating made for a warm yet relaxed atmosphere.
On one side, there were even partitioned solo seats. They looked great for quietly working on a laptop or reading alone.

The wifi was strong too, so I thought this could be a good pick for anyone looking for a Jeongja-dong, Suwon café to order a coffee and settle in to work.

The prices are pretty reasonable too.

In front of the counter there was a range of baked goods on display — salt bread, egg tarts, garlic bread, and more.

Butter rice cakes, 3 for 5,000 won, and the salt bread
That day we ordered coffee, warm yuja (citron) tea, and what seemed to be Café Meomureum's signature items — butter rice cake and salt bread.

The butter rice cake comes 3 pieces for ₩5,000. The round little shapes were cute from the start, and with a slightly crispy outside and a chewy inside, they paired really well with coffee. It felt different from typical rice cakes, so if you stop by Café Meomureum, it's worth trying at least once.

You can't skip the salt bread either. Baked to a golden brown, it had a plain, savory flavor with a salty edge that also went really well with coffee.

Alternating bites of the sweet, chewy butter rice cake and the plain salt bread ended up being surprisingly filling.

Is Café Meomureum a good place to linger?
Sitting leisurely with a warm cup of coffee in front of me, I really felt like I was having a moment of 'meomureum' (lingering), just like the café's name suggests. After rushing around, having this kind of time to do nothing but sit and drink coffee is such a nice part of a trip or an outing.

From the outside, I never would have guessed there'd be such a spacious, comfortable café tucked inside such an old mall — but once inside, the generous seat spacing and open layout made it easy to relax.

If you're looking for somewhere to have coffee in Jeongja-dong, Suwon — especially if you want to skip parking worries and relax in a spacious setting — Café Meomureum seems like a solid choice.

With coffee and tea alongside the butter rice cake and salt bread, we ended up having a nice, unhurried rest for once.
A surprising find tucked inside an old mall — a café where we lingered over butter rice cake and coffee, living up to its name.
