Today's project was really about my mom's hair — she flat-irons daily and gets gray coverage dye every other week. As you can see in the photo, her hair is thin and damages easily, with serious frizz. It barely seemed to have any protein or nutrients left — would this even be possible?! With a mix of worry and hope, we headed to Beorn Hair Cheongdam near Gangnam-gu Office Station!

The designer who did the CPR on her hair today was Deputy Director Ko Do-hee! I searched like crazy before deciding on her. Phew—

We arrived a little early, right around opening time, so we were the first customers~👍 As soon as we walked in, they checked our reservation and stored our things!

Just an hour later, even baby customers started arriving, and the salon chairs filled up fast!👀 💬 (Personally, I'm a huge fan of the pop-song BGM here.)

The interior is clean, as you can see! There are machines for drying, perming, and heat treatment at the center table and by the window,

and even little things like the magazines and phone charging cables were neatly organized! There are seats front and back, so a lot of people can get their hair done at once. There are also two separate shampoo rooms — you could probably even walk in same-day. ✔️ The restrooms are separate for men and women, inside the salon, and spotless!

The straightening process for severely damaged fine hair, step by step

As soon as we sat down, she checked whether a straightening treatment was even possible, feeling through the hair strand by strand and giving a careful, thorough diagnosis!

Why a perm was ruled out and low-irritation straightening was chosen

The result was, as we feared. She said the hair wasn't in good enough condition to hold a perm right now.🥲 It looked like it couldn't take it, honestly, but my mom said her heart sank a little hearing it.

She'd made up her mind to visit before the holidays to tidy up her frizzy hair (and honestly, ha, she'd secretly hoped for pretty curls too...)

So she asked if they could at least minimize the damage and tame the frizz — and Deputy Director Do-hee, picking up on exactly how she felt, calmly offered an alternative.

So they went with a straightening treatment instead~ Not enough to iron it perfectly smooth like healthy hair, but gentle enough to keep irritation low while still making it look tidy! The before-and-after difference ended up being really clear.😉 They also kept the chemical processing time to the bare minimum so the hair wouldn't dissolve further, and finished the whole thing in just 1.5 hours~ 👍

First, a shampoo, followed by heat treatment with the softening agent~ Quick shoutout to the designer who did the shampoo — haha (whispering) her massage was amazing, felt so refreshing, total satisfaction, satisfaction, satisfaction. They served drinks and snacks to enjoy while waiting through the treatment! (Americano, iced tea, orange juice, various teas, and more, all available)

After blow-drying, she went in with the flat iron for a custom finish, and even from where I stood I could tell how calm and careful the deputy director's hands were! And sure enough, straight from my mom ➡️ she said her worries melted away thanks to how attentive and composed the deputy director was the whole time — 'a real professional is different,' she said, chatting comfortably about her hair concerns, never bored, totally relaxed the whole time.

On to the second, neutralizing step — she kept checking the hair and spraying on nutrients throughout (to prevent damage).

The result: frizz gone after 1 hour 30 minutes

After the final cut, seeing the result made everyone smile — the frizz was gone! Turning something we thought was impossible into such a success was truly touching. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Since it was a straightening treatment, she said she wouldn't wash or tie up her hair for 3 days
