Between childcare, housework, lessons and getting ready for performances, I feel like I haven't had a moment to breathe this year. My hair got neglected too — I just kept letting it grow. It started looking frizzy, and tying it up all the time got boring. With fall coming and wanting to dress it up a bit, I decided it was time for a salon visit. Here's my review of the treatment I got from head stylist Hannah at Beorn Hair Cheongdam, near Gangnam-gu Office Station.

The inside was spacious and comfortable. I liked that there was enough room between seats that you didn't bump into other customers.

Even with quite a few customers there, it never felt crowded! There seemed to be a lot of regulars. Each stylist compared clients' previous hair to the style they wanted and styled it beautifully.

Why a long-hair hippie perm after six months without a salon

It had been over six months since I'd been to a salon. My hair was also the longest it's been in years. I honestly had no idea what to do with it anymore. This time I brought a photo and said 'this style, please,' and we settled on a long-hair hippie perm. I trusted the stylist and got ready with high expectations.

Protein care for damaged hair, then roll winding

My hair was quite damaged, so I got a protein treatment before the perm. Moisture and protein were packed into the hair first, then the perm solution was applied. After the moisture care, I sat down and the stylist called out roll numbers, winding the rolls accordingly. With long hair, I could really feel the weight once the rolls were in — something I never noticed before, haha.

Heat was applied thoroughly to the hair, then it was wrapped and heated again.

After the heat cooled, the essential neutralizing step removed the remaining solution to minimize damage to the hair.

A refreshing scalp massage came next, then the solution was rinsed out and my hair washed!!

How the curls held on fine hair, plus C-curl bangs

Ta-da 🌟 The curls came out so pretty, I was so happy. Even though my hair is on the thin side, the curls turned out beautifully 👍

For my bangs, the stylist shaped a C-curl that suited my face even more nicely. I thought it would look frizzy, but the stylist handled it so well — for today I finished it with curl cream, and starting tomorrow I'm going to try drying it the way the head stylist taught me 👍

I'm honestly proud of myself for choosing Beorn Hair Cheongdam among all the Gangnam-gu Office hair salons ^^ I'm so happy with how the long-hair hippie wave perm turned out. Watching head stylist Hannah shape the curls to suit my face made it clear she really knows what she's doing 😊 She also explained in detail how to dry the curls and how to apply curl cream, which I really appreciated since I barely style my hair otherwise! She noticed the little things that bothered me and took care of them without me having to ask — I think that's part of why her styling turns out so well.
