Weekend meals out are always a struggle to decide haha 😊 This weekend I wanted something healthy and filling, so I headed to Gomemui Hyundai Gardenfive. I had a great meal at the Munjeong Station branch before, so I went in with high expectations — and this newly opened Hyundai Gardenfive branch didn't disappoint either. Clean interior, delicious hot pot rice, and crispy-yet-moist katsu made it a great spot for a family meal.

Inside the newly opened Gomemui at Gardenfive
As you'd expect from a newly opened branch, the interior at Gomemui Hyundai Gardenfive was spacious and pleasant~~

The tables had generous spacing and the atmosphere was clean, so it felt comfortable visiting as a family.

What the family ordered at Gomemui and what it cost

Hire katsu 2pcs, the 5,000 won side order
Gomemui is famous for its sotbap, but they're really good at katsu too haha. Here's the hire katsu we ordered as a side~~♡

You could see right away that it was crispy outside and moist inside. Being tenderloin, the texture was especially soft and light. My kid ate it happily, and after a bite myself I thought, yep, this is definitely a katsu spot 😊
Eel sotbap and steak sotbap at the table
Eel sotbap and steak sotbap!

Just looking at it made me hungry~🤤 Gomemui's basic side dishes 👏👏 — gat kimchi (mustard leaf kimchi), salted pollock roe, pickled chili peppers — each one was delicious and went perfectly with rice. We ended up finishing every last side dish haha.
How to eat sotbap at Gomemui, step by step
With sotbap, you scoop the rice out first, then pour hot water into the pot to enjoy the nurungji (scorched rice) at the end. Instructions for each menu are kindly provided, so it's not hard to figure out.

The eel sotbap came with its own eel-specific ochazuke broth, and the steak sotbap came with a separate broth you can enjoy on its own. For the steak sotbap, I popped the egg yolk and mixed it together with the meat and rice.

The soft steak and the savory egg yolk came together for really great flavor.
The meat had no off-smell and was moist and tender,

It's tasty on its own, but topping it with the side dishes gives it a whole different appeal.

How was the eel sotbap at Gomemui?
My husband's pick, the eel sotbap, was really delicious too. The eel was so tender and moist :) With the sauce and ginger served alongside, the eel's distinctive flavor really came alive, and we could enjoy it cleanly without any heaviness!

The soup served with the sotbap had a simple, non-overpowering flavor haha. It was nice to sip between bites of rice, and at the end we finished cleanly by enjoying the warm nurungji left in the pot.
Is Gomemui Gardenfive worth a family meal?
- Looking for a filling but not overwhelming meal? I'd recommend Gomemui Hyundai Gardenfive 😊
- From the delicious sotbap to the katsu, everything was satisfying — this is a place I'd love to revisit for another family meal.
