Munjeong tonkatsu restaurant: perilla oil mushroom pot rice, Gome Mui
In short
Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong is a pot rice (sotbap) and tonkatsu restaurant on B1 of Tera Tower A, right in front of Munjeong Station in Songpa, Seoul. After a wait in the restaurant's waiting area, we took the wood-grain bar table and ordered steak pot rice (17,000 won) and perilla oil braised mushroom pot rice (14,500 won), making one of them a set so tonkatsu came too. Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong suits a group where one person wants meat and another wants mushrooms.

Today I went to Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong near Munjeong Station for pot rice and tonkatsu! I was craving rice but not plain rice — more like a rice bowl kind of thing — and while looking it up I found this pot rice restaurant?! So I went and sat at the bar!

How to walk from Munjeong Station and what the bar seats are like
Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong is right in front of Munjeong Station so it wasn't hard to find! The entrance has a bright sign, a wooden frame, and white fabric hanging. We sat at a bar table with really deep wood grain! There were so many people, haha.

There's a waiting line too, so if you want to eat right away, I'd recommend going a bit early!

What we ordered: steak pot rice and perilla oil mushroom pot rice
We ordered steak pot rice and gireumeul-simmered mushroom pot rice, and made one into a set so tonkatsu came out too!

When you open the lid of the steak pot rice, the meat, green garnish, and egg yolk all come rushing at you! Garlic chips sit on top of the meat with plenty of sesame seeds sprinkled on. The moment I opened it I was drooling — this is the kind of visual you have to photograph before mixing it up.

The mushroom pot rice has a totally different vibe. Green garnish sits among the mushrooms, with white garnish and thin orange garnish visible too, so the colors that came through in photos were more varied than I expected. (Of course, I'm a meat person, so I wasn't really the owner of this bowl.)

Each pot comes out on its own wooden stand, and the soup and side dishes come out separately in small bowls!
How the steak pot rice tasted: meat size, egg yolk and wasabi
At Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong, the steak pot rice had bigger chunks of meat than I expected, so there was real chewing satisfaction! If the pieces are too small it just doesn't feel like eating meat. I got a bite shot too, haha.

Once I popped the egg yolk and stirred everything together, honestly... it was a drool-worthy visual.

The side plate also came with wasabi, so when things started getting a bit rich, adding a little and taking a big bite was so good!

Who should order the perilla oil braised mushroom pot rice?
The gireumeul-simmered mushroom pot rice had a really great mushroom aroma! If you're not big on meat, or if you love mushrooms, you really have to try it. When a group has different preferences — some wanting meat, some wanting mushrooms — I liked that the menu was split so everyone could choose. That said, if you're sensitive to mushroom smell or texture, check the ingredients first when picking your order (mushrooms can be a love-it-or-hate-it thing, haha).

The tonkatsu in the set meal and the yogurt dessert
The tonkatsu was cut into long strips and served on a small wire rack. The sauce came separately on the side (I was so relieved it wasn't already poured on — great for dipping-sauce people). It was crispy and clearly fresh out of the fryer, so it was really tasty, haha.

The owner gave us two bottles of yogurt for dessert! Such a warm, homey touch, haha.

Is Gome Mui worth it for pot rice near Munjeong Station?
Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong has pot rice made with a variety of ingredients, so there's real fun in choosing your own! The soup and side dishes coming out separately was a distinctive part of the setup.
- Pot rice choices for different tastes, like steak and mushroom
- Soup and side dishes served separately in small bowls
- Tonkatsu can be added alongside the pot rice
- A comfortable space where wooden materials stand out
- Check break time and shortened Sunday hours before visiting
This place is worth checking out if you're near Munjeong Station looking for a full pot rice meal, want to pick meat and mushroom dishes separately within a group, or want to order tonkatsu alongside. Recommended for anyone in Munjeong looking for pot rice and tonkatsu at Gome Mui Songpa Munjeong!
