Gapyeong Seorak-myeon dakgalbi restaurant: soy-sauce lunch set, Dami

In short

Dami Seorak Charcoal-grilled Dakgalbi is a charcoal-grilled dakgalbi (grilled chicken) restaurant on Hanseo-ro in Seorak-myeon, Gapyeong. After a day at The Stay Healing Park, the writer arrived at 12:30pm on a Monday and ordered the soy-sauce dakgalbi plus the makguksu set (cold buckwheat noodles in broth with boiled pork), clearing the deodeok muchim (bellflower root salad) and buchu muchim (chive salad) side dishes and every slice of the tender pork. The verdict: the best soy-sauce dakgalbi eaten anywhere in Gapyeong.

I stopped by for lunch after spending the day at The Stay Healing Park, and it turned out to be the best dakgalbi I've had in all of Gapyeong..

Inside Dami Seorak in Seorak-myeon, Gapyeong: how many seats?

Gapyeong = dakgalbi, right? Haha. Since it's grilled over charcoal, I was even more excited.

The inside was bigger than expected. Dami Seorak has seating for about 14 four-person tables and 1 eight-person table — enough to handle group visitors. The whole place was clean and pleasant. I visited on a weekday Monday around 12:30pm and had plenty of room to relax.

The main menu has seasoned dakgalbi, soy-sauce dakgalbi, and boiled pork. For sides, they had a good variety — makguksu (buckwheat noodles), buckwheat pancake, buckwheat dumplings, and more.

There's also a lunch special! It's a makguksu + boiled pork set, and the price was great too, making it a perfect budget-friendly lunch option. If you're visiting during lunch hours, I'd recommend this combo haha.

Side dishes at Dami Seorak: deodeok and chive salads

Order list

The basic table setting

The basic table setting came out neat and tidy right from the start! In particular, they serve deodeok muchim (bellflower root salad) and buchu muchim (chive salad) — side dishes I hadn't really seen at other dakgalbi places, which made it feel extra special haha. The deodeok muchim was genuinely delicious — fragrant even eaten plain, just the best.

How does the soy-sauce dakgalbi taste? Charcoal smoke, tender chicken

The soy-sauce dakgalbi wasn't overly seasoned and had a clean flavor, which I liked! The chicken was tender too, not chewy at all, and grilling it over charcoal added a subtle smoky flavor that made it even tastier haha. They said they use domestic chicken and real charcoal, and I could tell — the meat itself tasted clean and pure. Whenever I come to Gapyeong I always go get dakgalbi, and this place is the number one for soy-sauce dakgalbi. Genuinely delicious!

It's delicious topped with deodeok, delicious topped with chives, and delicious plain too, hahaha.

Rice cakes grilled alongside on the charcoal

They grill rice cakes alongside too. Grilled golden-brown over the charcoal, the outside gets slightly crispy while staying chewy inside, so I kept reaching for more haha.

A refreshing bowl of mul-makguksu

Mul-makguksu and boiled pork set: the surprise of the meal

The mul-makguksu (cold buckwheat noodle soup) was refreshing and tangy, cleansing the palate nicely! It paired really well with the dakgalbi haha. But unexpectedly, I ended up falling for the boiled pork.. The meat wasn't dry at all — tender and smooth with every bite! (It's a dakgalbi place, but they should honestly add 'famous for boiled pork' too haha.)

I also received dumplings as part of a review event! Half meat dumplings, half kimchi dumplings.. Getting them split like that was such a nice touch haha. But why did the dumplings have to be delicious too? Both the meat and kimchi dumplings were great, so I ended up finishing those too. I nearly burst..

Is Dami Seorak worth it after The Stay Healing Park?

Maybe because it's grilled over charcoal, the smoky flavor made this dakgalbi at Dami Seorak Charcoal-grilled Dakgalbi even more delicious. From the soy-sauce dakgalbi to the makguksu to the boiled pork, everything was great and I left satisfied haha. If you're looking for a spot near The Stay Healing Park, I'd recommend this place for dakgalbi in Gapyeong!
