Dami Seorak Charcoal-grilled Dakgalbi (다미설악숯불닭갈비) is a charcoal dakgalbi restaurant at 150 Hanseo-ro, Seorak-myeon, Gapyeong-gun, Gyeonggi-do. We went to Edelweiss Swiss Village in Gapyeong and ended up craving dakgalbi, so we stopped by 🍗

They use domestic chicken and domestic charcoal, grilled over charcoal — so my expectations were high ✨ The location is also convenient as part of a Gapyeong trip, so if you're looking for somewhere to eat near Gapyeong IC or Seorak-myeon, keep this in mind!

Eating with a toddler: high chair and baby dishware at Dami Seorak

The moment we walked in, I spotted a baby chair 👀 Whenever we go to a restaurant with our kid, the first thing I check is whether they have a baby chair, and this place had one ready. They even gave us kids' dishware — such a nice touch 😊

What the family ordered: soy-sauce dakgalbi, spicy dakgalbi and a makguksu set

  • Soy-sauce dakgalbi
  • Spicy dakgalbi
  • Makguksu (cold buckwheat noodles) + boiled pork set
  • Baby rice ball

We ordered one soy-sauce dakgalbi to share with our kid and one spicy dakgalbi for the adults. Since our kid loves gim (seaweed), we also got a baby rice ball, plus the lunch special mul-makguksu + boiled pork set 🐽 We ended up ordering more than expected, but the three of us ate quite well as a family 🐷 Rice cakes also came out to grill alongside the dakgalbi, so we put both on the charcoal grill together.

Side dishes at Dami Seorak: seasoned chives and fresh deodeok root

Every side dish came out neat and tidy, and the chive salad in particular was so good 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 I already like chive salad, and paired with the dakgalbi here it really worked well 👏🏻 Seasoned deodeok (bellflower root) and pickled radish also came with it, great to nibble between bites of dakgalbi. The raw deodeok especially was fragrant on its own, and tasty grilled with the dakgalbi on the charcoal too.

Staff grilled the dakgalbi and cut it into bite-sized pieces for us, which was so convenient 😄💕 Juggling a toddler while also grilling meat can get chaotic, but having someone grill it for us meant we could just sit and eat comfortably 👍🏻

Soy-sauce dakgalbi: mild enough for kids to eat

Dakgalbi grilled to a nice golden brown on the charcoal ✨ We tried the soy-sauce dakgalbi meant for our kid first, and the seasoning wasn't heavy or salty, so it was great to share with a toddler. I worried the seasoning might be too strong for a kid, but it was mild enough that I cut it up small and mixed it with rice. Our kid ate it better than expected — glad we ordered the soy-sauce version.

Baby rice ball made for the toddler

They shaped the rice ball just right for our kid to eat 😋 The baby rice ball portion was about the size of a bowl of rice, so our kid had some and we shared the rest too haha

Spicy dakgalbi: charcoal smoke is the highlight

The spicy dakgalbi I'd been looking forward to — maybe because of the charcoal grilling, it was so tasty! If the soy-sauce version felt clean and mild, the spicy version had that classic dakgalbi kick that suited the adults well. The subtle charcoal aroma made it feel different from dakgalbi just stir-fried in a pan.

Finally, the mul-makguksu and boiled pork 🐷 I actually wanted the spicy makguksu, but our kid loves noodles so much that we went with the mild broth version haha. Turns out that was the right call 👏🏻 Our kid ate the noodles really well, plus the dakgalbi and rice ball too 👶🏻 Seeing them eat everything so well made me unreasonably proud. The boiled pork that came alongside was tender and delicious too. Dakgalbi alone can feel like something's missing, but with makguksu and boiled pork on the side, it became a really filling meal. Overall the menu variety made it a solid choice for a family meal with a kid.

Why Dami Seorak fits a Gapyeong day trip

We stopped in for lunch after visiting Edelweiss Swiss Village in Gapyeong, and eating with our kid turned out easier than expected. With soy-sauce dakgalbi and a rice ball our kid could eat, dining out as a family wasn't inconvenient at all.

🌟Important🌟 Having the staff grill the dakgalbi for us meant we avoided the chaos of trying to look after our kid while grilling meat ourselves.

There's a lot to see in Gapyeong, so many people visit Edelweiss Swiss Village or nearby attractions and then look for somewhere to eat. Dami Seorak Charcoal-grilled Dakgalbi serves charcoal-grilled dakgalbi made with domestic chicken and charcoal, plus clean, tidy side dishes, making it a good choice for family dining. If you're searching for restaurants near Gapyeong IC, near Shine Dale, or near The Stay Healing Park, it's worth adding to your Gapyeong trip. Our family enjoyed Edelweiss Swiss Village and then finished with delicious dakgalbi — a satisfying little outing in Gapyeong :)
