My mom, my dog Rocky and I went on a fall trip to Nami Island 🍂🐶 When you're traveling with a dog, finding a restaurant can actually be more stressful than picking the sights.

Places with charcoal grills like dakgalbi (grilled chicken) usually don't allow dogs indoors, so I always research ahead. This time, timed with our Nami Island trip, we went to Namiseom Anbanji Dakgalbi, a Gapyeong dakgalbi spot I'd found.
Rocky was able to come in with us, so my mom, Rocky and I had a relaxed lunch together before heading over to Nami Island :)
Can you bring a dog? Anbanji Dakgalbi's rules for small dogs near Nami Island
Anbanji Dakgalbi is a charcoal-grilled dakgalbi restaurant near Nami Island with a 'pets welcome' sign at the entrance. Seeing that sign the moment we walked in was such a relief.

At the time of my visit, the posted notice allowed small dogs under 10kg. Dogs needed to be kept under control, such as in a carrier, and were not allowed on tables or chairs. If a dog barked or acted aggressively toward other guests, entry could be restricted — so basic pet etiquette matters here.

We brought Rocky's stroller and had him sit in it during the meal 🐾 Planning a Nami Island trip with a dog can get complicated when it comes to meals, so being able to eat together like this was really convenient. This is especially useful if you're looking for a dog-friendly restaurant in Gapyeong or near Nami Island.
The original salt-grilled dakgalbi at Anbanji, cooked over charcoal
Anbanji Dakgalbi's signature dish is charcoal-grilled dakgalbi. There's the original salt-grilled and a house marinated version, and we ordered two servings of the original salt-grilled. Per the menu, it uses 100% domestic chicken thigh, with 230g per serving. The first order has to be 2+ servings of the same flavor, and additional orders can be made starting from 1 serving.

They lay the chicken thigh pieces onto the charcoal grill one by one, and the smell alone was already 🔥 It's a different kind of appeal from Chuncheon-style dakgalbi cooked on a flat griddle. The subtle charcoal aroma soaked in as the outside turned golden and crispy, while the thigh meat stayed soft and juicy inside. Since it's salt-grilled, the seasoning isn't overpowering, so you really get to enjoy the plain flavor of the chicken along with the charcoal smokiness.

If you're visiting Nami Island and want proper charcoal-grilled dakgalbi, this is a Nami Island dakgalbi spot worth stopping at.
Adding cheese fondue to the dakgalbi: a combination worth ordering
At Anbanji Dakgalbi, we didn't just order dakgalbi — we added cheese fondue too. Watching the cheese bubble away next to the charcoal grill was already a great visual haha. Pick up a well-cooked piece of dakgalbi, dip it fully into the cheese, and lift it up — the cheese stretches out forever! 🧀

Adding rich, savory cheese to the plain salt-grilled dakgalbi gives it a totally different flavor from eating it on its own. My mom loved it too, so we kept alternating — one bite of dakgalbi, one dip of cheese. If you love cheese, I'd definitely recommend trying charcoal dakgalbi with cheese fondue.
Bibim memil makguksu (spicy buckwheat noodles) on the side
You need noodles with grilled meat, right? So we also ordered bibim memil makguksu at Anbanji Dakgalbi.

It came generously topped with vegetables, dried seaweed flakes, and sesame seeds, plus refreshing icy bits, which paired really well with the charcoal dakgalbi. Eat a piece of dakgalbi, then a bite of makguksu, and your palate clears up so nicely that you want more dakgalbi haha, it's magic. I honestly prefer the dakgalbi + bibim memil makguksu combo way more than eating dakgalbi alone.

On top of that, my mom and I had a beer too 🍺 Charcoal dakgalbi and beer in the middle of a fall day trip — that really felt like a proper vacation.
Blue Ribbon Survey 2026 listing and the takeout sets
One thing that caught my eye at Anbanji Dakgalbi was the Blue Ribbon Survey 2026 listing sign.

The menu also mentioned it's a recipe carried on for three generations. There was also a notice for an uncooked dakgalbi takeout deal — at the time of my visit, the couple set (700g) was 3 servings for the price of 2, and the family set (1,400g) was 6 servings for the price of 4.

If you're staying overnight near Nami Island or Gapyeong, getting it to go and cooking it at your accommodation seems like a good option too.
An autumn trip to Nami Island with mom and Rocky
For this Gapyeong dakgalbi find, the food was great, but being able to eat indoors together with Rocky was especially nice. It was a day out for some fall air with my mom and Rocky, and I loved that none of us had to wait outside alone while the other two ate 🤎

The soft chicken thigh grilled fresh over charcoal, paired with cheese fondue and bibim memil makguksu, made for a really satisfying combination. If you're looking for a good dakgalbi spot in Gapyeong or near Nami Island and need to bring your dog along, be sure to check the pet policy before you go.

If you're planning a fall trip to Nami Island with your dog, tying in a meal spot like this makes your route much easier to plan 🐶🍂

I've also put together a separate post on the dog-friendly Nami Island course and tips Rocky and I actually followed that day — everything from what to prepare before entering Nami Island to the exact route we walked with Rocky. It should make planning your trip a lot easier :) Starting our fall Nami Island trip with mom and Rocky off with a hearty dakgalbi meal made for an even better day 🍁
