Gwanak restaurant for a hearty solo dinner: Daily Fix

In short

Daily Fix Seoul National University Entrance is an American-style burger and sandwich restaurant in Gwanak, Seoul. I ordered the ₩15,900 pastrami sandwich at a window-side solo seat and loved the tender smoked ham with its tangy sauce. Daily Fix is a great pick when you want a filling meal beyond an ordinary burger.

Solo dining seats and the atmosphere near Seoul National University Entrance Station

First, the location: you can get here within a 3-minute walk from Seoul National University Entrance Station on Line 2. It is on the main shopping street, so it is not hard to find!

Once you spot the bold orange sign that is easy to see even from afar, you have arrived! There are big floor-to-ceiling windows and outdoor seats outside, while the window side has table seating, so solo diners like me can sit comfortably.

Along the window side, long benches run all the way down. Now that the weather is getting nicely cool, I think it would have just the right vibe for beer in the evening, haha. I took a seat along the indoor window row.

Further inside, there are plenty of spacious bar tables and tables for four. It is not noisy, and the modern atmosphere feels different from a franchise burger place! Instead of one main kiosk, there is a kiosk at each table, and it was convenient that they brought the food over.

Pastrami sandwich and side dishes

For one woman, the burgers are quite large, so I did not order a side and was still completely full from the burger alone! Let me introduce the menu first.

The classic lineup included cheeseburgers, chicken burgers, and sandwiches. Even from the photos, they looked pretty big, and since I wanted a more special kind of burger, I ordered the pastrami sandwich (15.9). For the sake of my conscience, I got Zero Coke...!

Along with familiar sides such as onion rings, coleslaw, and veggie sticks, there were also house items that are hard to find at other burger places, which made choosing fun. I came alone this time and only ordered a burger, but if you visit with several people, I think it would be nice to try the sides I could not get to ><

They also offer a receipt-review event, so if you spot something tempting while looking at the menu, you might want to join in. They sell nuggets, wings, and draft beer too! I wanted fries ㅠ I took a little peek at what other people had ordered inside, and seriously, the fries were thick, crisp outside and soft inside, so do try them! Once it gets a little darker in the evening, it would be lovely to fill up on a burger at the window-side table bar with a side and a beer.

A sandwich loaded with 80-hour smoked ham

And here is the pastrami sandwich. It is called a sandwich, but it looks like a burger. Instead of a burger bun, the patty comes between slices of bread that somehow seem a little healthier! They say the ham is smoked for 80 hours, and maybe that is why it was incredibly tender, with no chewiness at all! The meat itself smelled wonderful. The seasoning was slightly tangy, which worked so well with it =)

Trying it from every angle, hehe. Each table has napkins, forks, and knives, so feel free to use them. Can you see how generous it is from the way the filling sticks out far beyond the top and bottom slices of bread,,? It is an open kitchen, and they cook it right there, so it arrived hot. The combination of tangy sauce and salty ham was so good ><

I split it in half as soon as I got it, haha. There really was so much smoked ham... Even after piling plenty of ham onto every bite of bread, I still had some ham left at the end. The red part was a slightly tangy vegetable, like pickled radish served with chicken, so it cut through the richness along with the sauce when eaten with the meat and bread, and added texture too. I never got tired of it.

If you want something a little more special than an ordinary burger near Seoul National University Entrance Station, or a simple meal with a beer in the evening, I recommend spending a little time at Daily Fix Seoul National University Entrance.
