Pohang pasta restaurant with sea views: Plan A Restaurant

After my husband and I said we wanted Western food, we went to Plan A Restaurant (플랜에이레스토랑) in Songdo, Pohang, for dinner with the children. Two adults and two children shared four dishes while enjoying the sea view.

Where is it, and was parking convenient?

The address is 1189 Huimang-daero, Nam-gu, Pohang, and it is on the fourth floor of a commercial building. I thought it might be a little difficult to find at first. The hours listed in the original post are 11:45–21:00, with a break time from 15:15–17:00; it is regularly closed every Tuesday.

The information said that street-side parking in front of the building or the free merchants’ association parking lot behind it could be used. The rear parking lot we used was spacious and pleasant, so parking was easy.

Was the atmosphere good for a family meal?

The interior was decorated in white and wood tones, giving it a warm, clean feel. The tables were spaced far apart, which made it comfortable for a family meal.

Can you see the sea even on a rainy day?

It rained on the day we visited, but Songdo Beach was still right outside the floor-to-ceiling windows. I was curious about the view on a clear day, but eating while looking at the rainy sea had a nice atmosphere too.

What are the menu prices and ordering method?

We ordered using the tablet at the table. Steak, pasta, rice dishes, and salads were available.

At the time of our visit, steaks were ₩22,000–₩49,000 depending on the type and portion, while pasta and rice dishes were around ₩16,000–₩17,000. Salads were in the ₩13,000 range. For the steak, we could choose either a spicy version or a regular version without chili oil, and I thought the regular version would be a good choice when eating with children.

How were the four dishes we ate with the children?

We ordered chop steak, beef pilaf, carbonara, and spicy broth shrimp spaghetti. It seemed like it might be slightly too much for four people, but our family usually eats well, so we ordered generously.

Did the chop steak suit the children’s taste?

The meat in the chop steak was not tough and was cooked to a good level, so the texture was nice. We ate it with mushrooms in a sweet sauce, and the children especially liked the fries served alongside it. Even my husband, who does not usually eat much salad, ate the salad on the plate well. The two children ate almost all of the chop steak.

How did the pilaf and two pastas differ?

I was satisfied with the beef pilaf because it had large pieces of meat. It was stir-fried in a sweet and savory sauce, and my younger child ate it well.

The carbonara had a straightforward, classic flavor. Its thick, savory richness came through well, which suited my taste. The spicy broth shrimp spaghetti felt like eating jjambbong pasta. It had plenty of plump shrimp, and the peppery, spicy broth cut through the richness I felt while eating the other dishes.

Of the dishes we ordered, the carbonara and chop steak were most to my taste. With the sea in view and plenty of space between tables, we enjoyed a comfortable family meal.
