The weather was so nice this weekend that I went to Seoul Botanic Park for a walk haha

Since the botanic garden is a greenhouse, it got a bit warm and my whole body felt tired, so I really craved a cool, clean cup of coffee 🥹 I searched around wondering where to go!

While looking, I found out there was a roastery café nearby that roasts its own beans, and I headed straight there without hesitation hahaha

Pict Roastery: a Magoknaru Station roastery café near Seoul Botanic Park
Today I want to introduce Pict Roastery Magoknaru Branch, located near Magoknaru Station. It's within walking distance from Seoul Botanic Park, so it's perfect for a coffee after touring the greenhouse.

As soon as I stepped inside, a huge, impressive roasting machine sat proudly on one side, giving the whole space a serious coffee-shop presence.
I found out that they close every Monday and Tuesday just for roasting maintenance, to keep bean quality and coffee flavor at their best — that's how serious the owner is about coffee. The nutty, deep aroma of beans that hit me right when I walked in got my expectations soaring. These days new cafés pop up on every street, but finding a real Magok specialty café that handles premium beans properly is surprisingly hard ☕️

But Pict Roastery offers a rich rotating lineup of Roaster Selection drip coffees, featuring new origins and distinctive profiles every month.

The bean lineup was also carefully curated piece by piece, making it feel like a heaven of a hideout for coffee enthusiasts.

What we ordered at Pict Roastery: decaf americano, basil yuzu ade, matcha basque cheesecake
This time we ordered a cool decaf americano, a basil yuzu ade I'd been wanting to try, and for dessert, a Kyoto matcha basque cheesecake.

Does the decaf americano still taste deep?
First I tried a sip of the cool decaf americano — even though it was decaf, the flavor wasn't flat at all, and the aroma was so deep and subtle. I could immediately tell that a café roasting its own beans in-house is on a completely different level.

By the way, they run a ₩2,000 discount on americano weekdays from 11am to 2pm, and dine-in customers get one free refill on americano too — definitely worth checking out these perks when you visit 👍

What does the basil yuzu ade taste like?
Next I tried the basil yuzu ade I'd been curious about — this was a totally new and unique menu item for me.

Behind the tangy, sweet-tart yuzu, a fairly strong yet subtle basil aroma came through, making the first impression incredibly refreshing 🍋🌿 Thanks to that pleasant tartness, the heat and thirst disappeared instantly — best drink ever, give it a try haha

Kyoto matcha basque cheesecake at Pict Roastery
And for dessert, the Kyoto matcha basque cheesecake I had high expectations for.

The moment I cut a big bite with my fork and put it in my mouth — pure happiness.

The cake's texture was so dense and the flavor so deep, with the bittersweet matcha and the nutty, smooth cheese blending together perfectly 😋 The balance of sweet and bitter was excellent — one slice of dessert melted away a whole week's worth of fatigue, and my happiness level shot right up.

To try next time: French toast on 24-hour aged bread
This place is already known around Magok as a hotspot for French toast, made with moist, soft 24-hour aged bread grilled to a golden brown. Next time I visit, I'll definitely pair the nutty French toast with a fragrant hand-drip coffee and take it slow.

This place is also perfect for anyone who prefers the varied, delicate bean aromas unique to hand-drip coffee.
