Pict Roastery is on the 2nd floor of Castle Park, marked by this sign. There are lots of other shops in the building too, so I wandered around looking, and overall the cafés in this building were all nicely decorated.

Large coffee roasting machine on display at the front of the store

Right at the front of the store, they had a roasting machine on display, and it was pretty big — made me think there's a reason this became a well-known americano spot near Seoul Botanic Park. They roast the green beans and brew everything in-house, from start to finish.

There was a wait at times, so a menu board was set up out front to look at while waiting. They also sell freshly roasted beans — if you like the coffee, it might be worth taking some home. The sizes were 200g, 500g, and 1kg, so you can buy just as much as you need.

Once inside, I could see the floor-to-ceiling windows, which gave the space an amazing sense of openness, and with the great weather, the atmosphere felt even better.

The interior was clean and upscale, which felt like a good fit for a date or a get-together with friends.

The tables had a nice vibe too, and were a good size for 2-4 people, which made it seem good for small gatherings as well.

What we ordered and how much

  • Iced Americano ₩4,900
  • Basil Yuzu Citrus ₩7,000
  • Pistachio Tiramisu ₩8,000

First off, I really needed an americano, so I ordered one, and I added the basil yuzu citrus since another review said it was tasty. A lot of people seemed to be having the pistachio tiramisu too, so we figured we'd try it — and ordered that as well!

Iced Americano

A cup of Pict Roastery's iced americano

The first thing we tried was the iced americano, haha. It had a slight acidity along with a nutty flavor, so it's a coffee that shouldn't split opinion too much. And above all, the americano was really, really cold, so it was delicious. Confirmed: a great coffee spot in Magoknaru.

Basil Yuzu Citrus

Next up, the basil yuzu citrus, haha. The drink looked so pretty it was great for photos.

Overall it was mostly refreshing, and since we came after a meal, it was great as a palate cleanser. There was a subtle basil aroma and a strong sweet yuzu flavor — good stuff!

Pistachio Tiramisu

With drinks this good, you can't skip dessert, so we ordered the pistachio tiramisu. It came with this newspaper-like paper laid on the plate, which gave a bit of a 'coffee in New York' vibe.

Pistachio powder was dusted generously on top, and the portion was bigger than expected, so it felt like decent value for the price.

Cross-section of a spoonful of pistachio tiramisu

The pistachio gave it a real burst of nutty flavor, and since we both love pistachio normally, this was such a tasty dish for us. It was nice that it had the natural nutty flavor of the ingredients rather than being just sweet.
