Nowon sushi buffet lunch with Dippin' Dots: Kuu Kuu

Lately, whenever I’m craving sushi, I find myself looking for a buffet where I can eat a little bit of everything instead of just one menu item!! This time, I visited Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch (쿠우쿠우 노원점), where you can enjoy everything from sushi and sashimi to hot food and desserts in Nowon!! I was especially excited because they had newly introduced dishes like fresh salmon sashimi, smoked duck, and lamb chops haha 🙂

Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch hours and parking

The address is 6F, Seoul Oncheon Building, 247 Nowon-ro, Nowon-gu, Seoul. It’s open Monday through Friday from 11:00 to 21:30, with last orders at 20:00; Saturday and Sunday hours are 11:00 to 22:00, with last orders at 20:30.

You can use the Seoul Oncheon Building parking lot!! With a meal, parking is free for up to 2 hours. They say it can get crowded on weekends and public holidays because there are lots of visitors!! When we parked, though, there were plenty of spaces!!

Apparently, the Nowon branch was selected as an outstanding Kuu Kuu franchise!! Since it’s a branch recognized by headquarters, it’s worth a visit!!

The standard dining time is 2 hours, but it is operated as 1 hour 30 minutes if there are guests waiting!! We visited with a reservation!! Since we had reserved, we could go straight in!

A spacious, comfortable restaurant

The first thing I noticed upon entering was just how spacious the restaurant was!

With more than 300 pyeong of space, or roughly 990 square meters, the tables are fairly well spaced out, and it looked great for family visits or meals with a big group!! There are group tables farther inside, but there were so many people dining that I couldn’t take photos!! Even as we came in, a whole wave of group guests came pouring in!! Haha (They really did pour in!!!)

Fresh salmon sashimi

Fresh salmon sashimi, newly introduced this time!! It caught my eye even more because they said it is a Nowon Branch-only item that Kuu Kuu Gold branches don’t have. Fresh salmon, not smoked salmon, at Kuu Kuu!!! This is honestly unbelievable!!!! They say it is served for weekday dinner, weekends, and public holidays. You absolutely have to visit for weekday dinner or on the weekend!! Salmon lovers will go crazy!!

Smoked duck and lamb chops

One unexpectedly welcome dish at a sushi buffet was smoked duck!! With its chewy texture and distinctive smoky aroma, it was nice to have as a warm dish in between all the sushi and sashimi!! I only put two pieces on my plate in the photo, but I kept going back for refills.

And another new dish: lamb chops!!

They let you enjoy the distinctive flavor of tender lamb chops, so I think meat lovers would be happy with the selection too. Being able to enjoy lamb chops at the buffet really made the choices feel much more varied!!

The upgraded sushi selection

When you think of Kuu Kuu, sushi is something you simply can’t leave out.

You can choose from a wide range of sushi, and I think the advantage of a sushi buffet is being able to sample a little of many kinds, from familiar favorites like salmon sushi and flatfish sushi. This time, they said the fish portions on the flatfish and salmon sushi have been made bigger than before as an upgrade!!

Sushi is more satisfying when there is a generous amount of sashimi on top compared with the rice, so I loved that they paid attention to that!! It’s practically longtail sushi itself! They also said the shrimp sushi uses botan shrimp to bring out even more shrimp flavor, so shrimp lovers should make sure to try this too!!

A glass of Terra draft beer after writing a review

This was the part of my visit to Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch that personally caught my eye!!

They say you get one free 590 ml Terra draft beer per person when you write a review! You have to do that right away~~!? We left a receipt review and had our beer too!!

I also worked part-time at a hof pub when I was in college, you know!! So I showed off my skills a little this time!! Since it was draft beer rather than regular canned or bottled beer, it went really well with sushi, sashimi, and dishes like lamb chops!!!

Dippin' Dots and desserts, even at lunch

And if you are visiting with kids, you can’t skip the dessert corner!! Dippin' Dots, which used to be available only for weekday dinner and weekend menus, have been upgraded to be available at lunch too!!

If your kids love Dippin' Dots, they can enjoy dessert after the meal too!! We refilled our Dippin' Dots three times~! I think the biggest advantage of a buffet is being able to handle everything in one place, from sushi and all kinds of food to desserts that kids love!!

There are so many options, from coffee and desserts to fruit, maesil (Korean green plum drink), slushies, sikhye (sweet rice drink), coffee, and tea, so make sure you try them!!

The biggest advantage of Kuu Kuu Nowon Branch was that it is more than somewhere to eat sushi: it is a sushi buffet where you can enjoy everything from sushi and sashimi to meat-based hot food and desserts in one place!! In particular, the selection has become more varied with fresh salmon sashimi, smoked duck, lamb chops, upgraded flatfish and salmon sushi, and upgraded shrimp sushi. Plus, there is the offer of one free 590 ml Terra draft beer per person for writing a review, so drinkers will be very happy!! (Me. Me!)
