Escape room in Dunsan-dong, Daejeon: Cinderella theme at Cube Escape
In short
Cube Escape Daejeon Dunsan is an escape room café on the 5th floor of a commercial building near Galma Station in Dunsan-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon. Of the six themes on offer, the writer booked Cinderella, rated 4 stars for difficulty, and took on the 60-minute run, but used so many hints that both the Hall of Fame and the polaroid photo were out of reach. No escape, yet Cube Escape Daejeon Dunsan still made for a fun outing with friends or a couple's date course.

For friends or couples wondering what to do in Dunsan-dong, let me introduce a Daejeon escape room café I had a blast at — "Cube Escape Dunsan-jeom"!

Where is Cube Escape Daejeon Dunsan, and what are its hours?
Cube Escape Dunsan-jeom is on the 5th floor of a commercial building at 47 Daedeok-daero 185beon-gil, Seo-gu, Daejeon, 922m from Galma Station Exit 1. Hours are Sun–Thu 12:00–23:55, Fri–Sat 11:00–02:00, and you can use the building's underground parking.

When you're parking, if you see the grilled makchang (grilled intestines) restaurant sign, you're in the right place — just go in. I parked at Galleria (Timeworld) department store and walked over! If you've got errands at Galleria anyway, parking there works great too.

Go up to the 5th floor and you'll immediately see the Daejeon escape room café "Cube Escape"! My heart was already pounding just from arriving.. (and I hadn't even picked a scary theme lol). Was that the thrill of not knowing if I'd escape or not..?

How do you book Cube Escape Daejeon Dunsan, and how much does it cost?
At Cube Escape Dunsan-jeom, booking ahead online lets you use even the last time slot of the day, while walk-ins without a reservation need to enter at least 1 hour before closing! Pricing varies a bit depending on group size, and it's definitely cheaper the more people you have.

They also run a ₩1,000-per-person discount for cash payment (not bank transfer), plus a cash receipt. Withdraw cash beforehand if you want the discount. There are various other discount events running too, so check which ones apply to you and use them wisely 🥰
Go to the booking site and check your preferred theme, date, and time — I recommend booking ahead of your visit for convenience!

I also booked in advance, and after booking on the site and getting a text confirmation, you get a message like this with your reservation time. If your reservation is for 12:20, that's the start time, not the arrival deadline — so it's better to arrive a bit earlier to hear the explanation before starting. If you enter after 12:20 due to your own delay, your escape time gets cut short accordingly, so keep that in mind.

The waiting area and the puzzles on the tables
I last did an escape room in my early 20s, so this was my first one in over 10 years.. 🤭 I'm a little excited. Dreams and hopes are swelling up.

Each table had puzzles written on it so you wouldn't get bored! I figured I should save my brainpower for the actual escape room, so I didn't solve them? Not that I couldn't solve them, I just chose not to~ Yep~ You all go ahead and try them!!

Choosing a theme: the 60-minute rule and Hall of Fame conditions
At Cube Escape Dunsan-jeom, you pick one of 6 themes, and each theme comes with a description and difficulty rating, so check those out. Play time is 60 minutes, and you can only make the Hall of Fame if you use 3 hints or fewer! Also, if you escape using 1 or 2 hints, you get a polaroid photo taken 🕶️ So did we make the Hall of Fame?

Anyway, since we absolutely couldn't handle anything scary, we picked the Cinderella theme, rated 4 out of 5 stars. My heart's racing 💗

As entry time approaches, a staff member explains everything. If you open the door and step out mid-game, that counts as giving up, so use the bathroom beforehand. After checking how the locks work and putting your belongings, phone, watch, etc. into a locker and signing the waiver, we closed our eyes and started 💕💕
How did the Cinderella theme go? (No spoilers)

Yep. No polaroid photo for us, and no Hall of Fame either. We called the staff member on the intercom so many times that after we got out I was hit with shame and guilt, then a wave of gloom that took a while to shake off.. Still, it was fun, see you next time.. next time I'll escape, bye 🙂 (It's gotten a lot harder than 10 years ago, ahem)
Still, it brought back memories and was a lot of fun. If you're looking to make new memories with friends or figuring out a date course, I highly recommend the Daejeon escape room café "Cube Escape."
