Over the weekend I had dinner at Sinbaegok Lamb Skewers, a famous spot in Taejeon-dong, Gwangju, Gyeonggi, with my close unnie's family. Our kids are friends too, and they ate so well it made us parents eat well too! So here's the post right away~

Where do you park at Sinbaegok Lamb Skewers Taejeon Branch?

Sinbaegok Lamb Skewers Taejeon Branch is on the 2nd floor of a building at 8-4 Taebong-ro, Gwangju-si, Gyeonggi. There's parking for 3 cars each in front and behind the building, but the space is a bit tight and it's not an official lot, so it might be a little tough for a beginner driver like me. But if you park at the nearby Taejeon Food Mart and take a photo, you get 1 hour free, so you can come without worrying too much 😊

How long is the wait on a Sunday evening?

Walk into the building and up to the 2nd floor at Sinbaegok Lamb Skewers Taejeon Branch, and you'll see the entrance with a Catch Table waitlist kiosk right in front. If there's a wait, you can register and get a notification, which is convenient. As a famous spot in Taejeon-dong, the wait can get long on some days, but there are services for customers who've been waiting a while.

We visited on a Sunday evening and waited about 15 minutes on the Catch Table before getting in. The inside felt fresh, probably good ventilation, and the tables were split into groups of 4 and 6 seats, which looked good for family outings or gatherings.

The budget couple set: fried rice instead of cucumber salad

At Sinbaegok Lamb Skewers, a well-known spot in Taejeon-dong, the table menu has best-seller and set options with photos of each dish, so it was easy to see everything at a glance and order without much thought.

We ordered the budget couple set first, swapping the cucumber salad for fried rice. (You could choose fried rice or warm noodles instead of the Chinese-style cucumber salad.) So we ordered original lamb skewers + seasoned lamb skewers + guobaorou (small) + fried rice 😊

They're also running review events on Naver and Danggeun.

The basic side dishes were peanuts, jjachai (pickled mustard tuber), and kimchi, plus raw garlic you can order once for free!! Grilling the garlic alongside the meat is 👍🏻👍🏻 (extra garlic was around ₩2,000 I think, but I'd had a drink so I'm not 100% sure haha)

Why Sinbaegok works with kids: self-serve bar and baby dish sterilizer

At Sinbaegok Lamb Skewers Taejeon Branch, you grab any extra side dishes, plates, or kids' tableware from the self-serve bar. Having a separate baby dish sterilizer was really nice haha

We grabbed tableware for our little ones from the sterilizer, and picked up sesame salt from the self-serve bar for the kids to dip their skewers in.

And since I don't eat spices, I went for the salt-and-sesame combo. There's salt both where the utensils are and at the self-serve bar haha. For the chili flakes, since I wanted mine completely free of spices, I asked the owner and got a separate portion 😄 The spicy chili flakes mixed with spices are also at the self-serve bar.

Original vs. seasoned lamb skewers, tasted by someone sensitive to gamey lamb

Original lamb skewers and seasoned lamb skewers. I'm someone who can't eat lamb if it has that characteristic gamey smell, but at Sinbaegok Lamb Skewers I barely noticed any smell, so it was a place I could enjoy comfortably even as a picky eater. But the seasoned skewers I couldn't manage haha 😅 spices are a whole different story for me ㅠㅠ Instead, unnie and oppa ate them up happily! Those two are lamb skewer lovers ㅋㅋㅋ

Fried rice and guobaorou the children actually finished

The fried rice had just the right seasoning and a nice fluffy texture, really delicious. The guobaorou (sweet and sour crispy pork) was crispy, chewy, and sweet-and-sour, and the kids ate it up happily haha

Table spread of fried rice and guobaorou

Since our little one had fried rice for breakfast too, she said she just wanted plain white rice for dinner, so we added a rice bowl, and they gave us seaweed flakes along with it too!? So touched..🥹

We kept grilling everything nicely over the charcoal and ended up ordering extra original and seasoned lamb skewers to eat more 😎 Not tough at all, really tender, so the kids ate it well too haha

Finishing with the free soft-serve ice cream

So in the end, one more drink today too~~~🍻 The side dish is literally lamb skewers, how can you resist~ㅋㅋㅋ

With the drinks flowing, I didn't manage to photograph the very end..😅 but Sinbaegok Lamb Skewers has a soft-serve ice cream machine too, so you can finish off with soft-serve for dessert!! We each had one with the kids and wrapped things up neatly~~ㅋㅋ
