After-work bar in Guro, Seoul for seafood fried pajeon: Eulji Pocha

Today I'm sharing my visit to Eulji Pocha in Guro, a great spot when you want a drink after work in the area.

There are so many companies around Guro Digital Complex Station that there's no shortage of places for a meal or a drink after work.

Whenever I have plans in Guro, I end up wondering where to eat. This time I wanted a relaxed drink with good snacks (anju) alongside, so I visited Eulji Pocha!

What's the atmosphere like for a company dinner in Guro?

Eulji Pocha Guro Digital Complex Branch is a pocha-style bar that's easy to drop into after work in Guro. When people have plans here, they usually meet around Guro Digital Complex Station—it's such an office-worker-heavy area that both restaurants and bars get busy after clock-out time.

I visited in the evening again this time, and I could really feel that distinct Guro after-work energy. It seemed like the kind of place plenty of people would want—whether for a casual drink with a friend or a company dinner with coworkers.

Personally, when I choose a bar I tend to prefer somewhere I can chat comfortably over drinks rather than somewhere overly fancy and quiet.

In that sense, Eulji Pocha had exactly that easygoing pocha (street-food tent bar) feel—no pressure, just good drinks and anju.

A pocha is really about sitting in a group, ordering a dish or two, and enjoying the conversation, right? That made it feel like a great fit for anyone looking for a Guro bar for a company dinner.

Walking further inside, I found tables set up nicely for groups—perfect for visiting with friends or coworkers.

It felt more suited to a group visit ordering a variety of anju than drinking solo. Since it was right before Chuseok, there seemed to be a lot of company dinners going on—and with the DJ's record-bar vibe, they turned the whole "neulkeukeu" (playfully teasing older-generation trend) company dinner energy into something genuinely fun to watch! It was so enjoyable I almost wanted to join in myself!

Guro has so many office workers that plenty of people must be looking for company dinner spots. Rather than a heavy Korean BBQ dinner, a pocha-style bar seems like a great choice when you just want an easy drink for a first or second round!

Ordering draft beer, Sichuan kkanpunggi and seafood fried pajeon

After sitting down and looking over the menu, I picked the seafood pajeon (fried pancake) and Sichuan kkanpunggi that I'd enjoyed last time! And of course, draft beer to start—you have to order a draft first at a place like this, right?

Seeing the ice-cold draft beer in the glass instantly made me feel like I'd properly clocked out for the day. Nothing beats a post-work "labor beer" after a long day, and since the dishes I ordered were both fried, they paired especially well with the beer.

How does the Sichuan kkanpunggi taste?

After a first sip of beer while waiting, the anju started arriving one by one. First up: Sichuan kkanpunggi.

It looked like the perfect drinking snack right from the visual! Kkanpunggi is popular as a beer anju because you get both the crispy fried texture and the seasoning together—here, the Sichuan-style sauce gave it a different appeal from regular fried chicken or tempura.

Taking a bite, the outside was crispy and the inside soft, and the sauce coating made it much more flavorful than plain fried chicken.

It had a mild spicy-sweet kick that kept my hand reaching for more. Perfect with beer! One bite and I'd naturally reach for another sip of beer.

I especially thought the Sichuan kkanpunggi was great for a group to order and share as anju—it's not a one-per-person dish, so it's easy to just pick at casually while drinking. When looking for a good bar near Guro Digital Complex Station, the food matters, but so does having anju that pairs well with drinks, and this dish delivered on that front!!

How is seafood fried pajeon different from a regular pajeon?

The second dish was Eulji Pocha's most appealing menu item: seafood tteok-pajeon (fried seafood pancake). Even the name feels different from a regular pajeon (green onion pancake). Pajeon is usually thought of as a makgeolli pairing, but it goes surprisingly well with draft beer too!

The golden-brown seafood tteok-pajeon arrived at the table with a savory aroma that had me reaching for chopsticks right away! The outside was fried crispy, giving it a different texture from the usual soft pajeon. I personally love a crispy jeon (pan-fried dish), so this really hit the spot.

With green onion and seafood mixed in, every bite delivered a mix of different flavors—and above all, it paired wonderfully with the beer.

Where the Sichuan kkanpunggi was seasoned and spicy, the seafood tteok-pajeon was savory and crispy, so ordering two contrasting dishes actually worked out really well.

Cutting it into pieces and eating, it disappeared faster than I expected. If you're visiting with a group, ordering one of these jeon dishes to share is a great idea. Especially for a Guro bar company dinner, people usually order several dishes to share on the table rather than sticking to just one or two—so the combo of Sichuan kkanpunggi and seafood tteok-pajeon worked out well in that regard.

A coin with every order: how to spend it at Eulji Munbanggu

Every time an ordered dish arrived, they gave coins to the table—one of the other fun parts of Eulji Pocha! It felt like getting delicious food *and* getting paid, which somehow made me excited to keep ordering—it's magic!

There was an Eulji Munbanggu (Eulji Stationery Store) corner where you could use the coins—cotton candy, dalgona (honeycomb candy), snacks, a claw machine, the Eulji photo booth, and even ice cream swaps—so many fun ways to spend the coins!

If you love a pocha atmosphere—DJ pocha, event pocha style—rather than a quiet restaurant, and you like drinking while enjoying music and energy, this style of bar might be much more fun for you!

DJ song requests, listener stories and the company-dinner season

My husband and I often come to Eulji Pocha after work—if you write in a story along with your song request, the DJ reads out the story in a really evocative way and plays the song, which I love so much! Today there were especially many company dinner groups, so there were a lot of "letting off steam after a work dinner" stories along with sweet couple confession stories. It was such a fun feeling—being total strangers, yet somehow all sharing the space together and enjoying it!

Is Eulji Pocha in Guro worth a visit? Final thoughts

Today I shared my visit to Eulji Pocha in Guro, where I enjoyed draft beer, Sichuan kkanpunggi, and seafood tteok-pajeon.

I made full use of the coins right down to snacks and ice cream at the end! Guro has such a wide variety of bars that it can be hard to decide where to go, but if you want to order a bunch of different anju, a pocha-style bar is a solid choice. Next time I find a good restaurant or bar in Guro, I'll visit myself and share an honest review :)
