Daetgeori Korean restaurant with free dessert bar: Masan Ssamjangjip
In short
Masan Ssamjangjip is a Korean set-meal restaurant in the Daetgeori area of Masanhappo-gu, Changwon, serving a ssambap (lettuce-wrapped rice) set with about 30 side dishes. Two orders of the 14,900 won ssambap set brought dressed greens, seaweed soup, braised kimchi and stir-fried pork, plus free Hangang ramyeon and a self-serve dessert bar of rice cake, jjondeugi and fruit — injeolmi rice cake three times over. For a Korean spread heavy on side dishes with dessert thrown in free, Masan Ssamjangjip is the answer.

A tidy Korean set-meal restaurant in Daetgeori, Masan

Masan Ssamjangjip, a Daetgeori favorite, is a great spot for Korean food in the neighborhood. With so many side dishes to enjoy, it's a great set-meal restaurant to bring your parents to.

Walking into Masan Ssamjangjip, the first thing you notice is how spacious and tidy it is. The interior has a Korean touch that gives it a warm, homey feel fitting for a Korean restaurant.

Traditional props give the space character without making it feel cramped — it's spacious and comfortable for dining. Seating is generous, making it a great spot to visit with family or friends.
What comes with the ssambap set, from braised beef ribs on up

Masan Ssamjangjip's signature dish is the ssambap set. It comes with a whopping 30 side dishes, so you get to taste a little bit of everything — great for anyone who loves Korean food. If you want to add meat, you can also order braised beef ribs alongside it. Order the ssambap set together with the braised beef ribs and you get an extra discount on the ribs, a great combo when you're visiting with a group and want to eat well.
Hangang ramyeon and the dessert bar: both free
Masan Ssamjangjip has both a Hangang ramyeon station and a dessert bar, letting you enjoy something light before or after your meal.

What really stands out is that the Hangang ramyeon is free. With four types available — Samyang Ramyeon, Snack Myun, Jin Ramyeon, and Kimchi Ramyeon — there's plenty to choose from,

and you can boil it up easily with the machine, which is a fun little novelty on its own.

The dessert bar has rice cake, jjondeugi (chewy rice snack), and fruit, so you can pick whatever suits your taste. It's great for a light palate cleanser after the meal, and both kids and adults can choose their own dessert.
Eating the ssambap set: how generous is the spread?
📌 Ordered: Ssambap set - ₩14,900 x 2

The table filled up with dishes nonstop. With so many side dishes arriving all at once, it's fun trying to decide what to eat first.

The dressed greens (geotjeori) had an addictive sweet-tangy flavor. Eaten with tofu, it's a great match. I bet it'd also be delicious with acorn jelly!

The seaweed soup came in its own bowl for each person, in a big bowl with a generous portion. Taking that first warm sip of seaweed soup warmed me right up.

Every dish was healthy but still full of flavor, so it was fun tasting them one by one. The charm of Korean food really lies in pairing warm rice with a little bit of each side dish, and at Masan Ssamjangjip you get to enjoy a wide variety of well-made, neatly prepared sides.

The savory barley doenjang (soybean paste) pairs perfectly with the ssambap. Even a little bit adds a rich flavor.

The braised kimchi came in a tangy sauce that practically demanded rice. The well-aged kimchi had gone soft and tender, making it very easy to eat.

The stir-fried pork had a slightly sweet seasoning. It was best wrapped in ssam (wrap) vegetables together with rice and pork.

I was already full, but it felt like a waste not to have ramyeon too, so I boiled up a bowl of Hangang ramyeon, and it hit the spot.

For dessert, I happily worked through some rice cake and fruit. The injeolmi (bean-powder rice cake) was so good I went back for it three times. Having actual rice cake on offer was such a nice touch!!
Worth it for a Daetgeori Korean meal loaded with side dishes?
This is a place where you can enjoy a table full of food. Add in free Hangang ramyeon and free dessert, and the whole meal feels complete from start to finish. If you love a Korean set meal with tons of side dishes, Masan Ssamjangjip is definitely worth a visit.
