Samgye-dong, Gimhae family restaurant, 8-person table: Gaya Kkeutjip

In short

Gaya Kkeutjip Samgye is a Korean set-menu restaurant in Samgye-dong, Gimhae, right next to the Samgye Hanaro Mart. A three-generation family of eight came on a Saturday evening and ordered all three set menus at once — Kkeutjip A (18,000 won), B (20,000 won) and C (23,000 won) — for gochujang bulgogi, bossam, steamed ray and clay-oven grilled mackerel on one table. With baby chairs, sofa seating and 1 hour of parking covered at the Gaya lot next door, Gaya Kkeutjip Samgye is an easy pick for a big family meal.

I went to Gaya Kkeutjip Samgye for a three-generation family dinner. Parking was easy, and above all the food was clean and delicious! 👏🏻 They even had menu items kids would like, so it was a really satisfying spot. Let me review this Gimhae Samgye restaurant, Gaya Kkeutjip Samgye.

Saturday evening visit: how the in-person waitlist works

This is Gaya Kkeutjip, a restaurant in Samgye, Gimhae, located right next to the Samgye Hanaro Mart.

I visited around 6pm on a Saturday, and by 7pm the place was completely full. There's no separate waiting app — you have to sign up for the wait in person!

Baby chairs, sofa seats and the 8-person group table

Gaya Kkeutjip Samgye has an indoor waiting area. The restaurant is spacious, so even the waiting area feels roomy.

True to its reputation as a family-friendly restaurant, they have baby chairs ready.

The interior is clean and the tables are generously sized! I loved that all the seats were sofa-style.

This is the seat we were shown to for our reservation of 8. There are lots of tables pushed together, so it's a great spot for group gatherings or work dinners too. Most of the other customers were families.

Three set menus laid out for an 8-person family dinner at Gaya Kkeutjip

It's an open kitchen — they seem confident about cleanliness haha.

Every table had extra small plates and paper cups, which was convenient. Ready to eat!

At Gaya Kkeutjip Samgye, kids age 8 and up must order their own individual menu. Here's what we ordered today.

  • Kkeutjip Set A (₩18,000) for 2 — gochujang bulgogi, clay-oven grilled fish, house-made hand-pressed tofu, seasoned crab, homemade side dishes
  • Kkeutjip Set B (₩20,000) for 2 — bossam, clay-oven grilled fish, house-made hand-pressed tofu, seasoned crab, homemade side dishes
  • Kkeutjip Set C (₩23,000) for 4 — ray stew, clay-oven grilled fish, house-made hand-pressed tofu, seasoned crab, homemade side dishes

Bring it on already~! 🤑

Side dishes, pan-fried hand-pressed tofu and seaweed soup

The side dishes were great quality. The seasoned crab suited my dad's taste, and I loved the zucchini.

The hand-pressed tofu came drizzled with a soy sauce dressing, and my elementary-school-aged nephew ate it up! It also came with tofu salad, ssamjang (dipping sauce), garlic, salted seafood, wrap vegetables, and seaweed soup. Having warm seaweed soup to settle the stomach was nice haha.

Why the clay-oven grilled mackerel was the best dish

The clay-oven grilled fish is mackerel grilled in a clay oven, and it's insanely good!!! Each table got its own plump whole mackerel.

A whole clay-oven grilled mackerel served at each table

Grilled in the clay oven, it was so moist. At first I couldn't even believe it was mackerel..🫢

Moist grilled mackerel flesh

No fishy smell at all, and we ate it up happily. The mackerel was the best dish of all. Number one in my heart, ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ. The main dishes come out pretty quickly too~!

Steamed ray, the Set C dish for four

I used to only eat ray stew in Gangwon-do, so it was a nice surprise to find it in Gimhae haha.

Ray stew for 4 from the Kkeutjip C set

The seasoning tasted similar to tteokbokki (spicy rice cake) sauce, so it went really well with the rice cake sticks.

Tender, moist ray meat + plain white rice, the best combo 👍🏼 It's also delicious wrapped in roasted seaweed!

Bossam for two in Kkeutjip Set B

The bossam came with dried radish strips, kimchi, and garlic sauce. The portion felt a little small, though ㅠ.

The garlic sauce was just the right amount of sweet, which woke up the appetite.

The bossam was moist, so it seemed like something everyone from kids to grandparents would enjoy. A flavor that's hard to dislike.

Gochujang bulgogi for two in Kkeutjip Set A

This gochujang bulgogi has a great charred, smoky flavor.

It went best wrapped in lettuce. The seasoning was delicious!

Overall, the food was all moist and tender. Not overly seasoned, so the aftertaste was clean.

After the meal: plum tea, coffee and chamomile tea

Gaya Kkeutjip Samgye even has dessert ready. Cool plum tea and coffee.

Warm chamomile tea for dessert

Warm chamomile tea too. There are even mint candies at the register — mint candies, haven't seen those in a while! Gaya Kkeutjip Samgye is complete, dessert included, haha.

Verdict: is Gaya Kkeutjip Samgye worth it for a family of eight?

I especially loved the clay-oven grilled mackerel. The plump flesh was so moist, it was one of the best grilled fish dishes I've had! 😋 The side dishes were also generous, making it a great place for a thoughtful meal. With a big, clean space serving Korean food, it's perfect for a family dinner out — I recommend this Gimhae Samgye restaurant, Gaya Kkeutjip Samgye. Definitely would come back 💯 Another delicious meal today!
