Spicy braised short ribs in Busanjin, Busan: Sinchon Yangpuni
In short
Sinchon Yangpuni Seomyeon Main Branch is a Korean restaurant and drinking spot in Busanjin, Busan. We had level 3 spicy braised short ribs with seafood potato pancake, steamed egg, and rice balls; the pancake pairing stood out. Verdict: a satisfying pick for a generous spicy meal with sides.

Sinchon Yangpuni Seomyeon Main Branch in a Seomyeon alley
I found Sinchon Yangpuni Galbijjim, a great braised short rib spot in Seomyeon, while heading to Mangchwigil with a friend for dinner! My friend and I are both spice fiends, so we went spicy—and the seafood potato pancake we had as a side was such an impressive match *⸌☻ັ⸍*
It is tucked between the alleys of Mangchwigil, so it can be confusing. Check the photo below and follow along! ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️

Follow the arrow into the alley on the right~
Outside and entrance

Once you enter the alley, the entrance is on the left.
A spacious interior spanning two floors

The first floor has tables for four and tables for two,

and there are tables upstairs too, so the restaurant is really quite spacious! It works for group gatherings and company dinners in Seomyeon ✔️ There may be a wait during lunch and dinner peak times~

🚻 The restroom is inside on the first floor.

Braised short ribs and sides ordered for two
👩🏻🦰👩🏻 The two of us ordered braised short ribs for two (level 3) for ₩28,000, seafood potato pancake for ₩10,000, steamed egg for ₩3,000, a rice ball for ₩2,500, and soju for ₩5,000 ミ✭

Each table has a QR code, so you can order on your phone 📱~
Before the food arrived, they brought us each a bowl of soup. It was mild and savory, so it settled the stomach, haha. An absolute must before spicy food★

The rice ball was rolled into neat little rounds and ready to eat!

The steamed egg was soft and bouncy, and the seasoning was just right, so I kept reaching for it throughout the spicy short ribs (〃´𓎟`〃)

Seafood potato pancake with sauce and short-rib seasoning
The seafood potato pancake is free if you make a Naver reservation in advance⭐ Be sure to read the instructions on the wall for how to enjoy it.

This is the dipping sauce for the seafood potato pancake, and it is seriously the key.

Just look at this seafood potato pancake~! Doesn't it look crispy just from looking at it? >< Dip it in the sauce, then in the braised short-rib seasoning—the flavor soaks right in, and it goes together so well!

Level 3 braised short ribs with a clean heat, no gochujang
Our main dish, Yangpuni braised short ribs for two, arrived. I was so happy to see it piled with mung bean sprouts and shredded scallions....♥ The staff remove all the meat from the rib bones for you, haha.

✅ We ordered Sinchon Yangpuni braised short ribs at spice level 3. They do not use gochujang (Korean chili paste) here✔️ So there is none of that distinctive heavy gochujang taste; instead, you get the clean, spicy kick of chili flakes. It was not an artificial heat at all—totally my style~?

We tried it dipped in garlic mayo, topped it with mung bean sprouts and shredded scallions, and ate it with glass noodles—it made for such a generous meal! (There is seriously so much food >д<)

There were chewy rice cakes too, nicely soaked in the sauce—so good 👍🏻

I put a rice ball on a perilla leaf, added a piece of braised short rib, dipped it in sauce, and took a huge bite—★ This combination was heavenly, so I practically wiped out the perilla leaves, haha.
It had been a while since I ate something spicy, and it was the perfect stress relief~ Level 3 is not spicy enough to burn your stomach, but if you are not good with spicy food, definitely go for level 1 or 2! 🌶 (The rice ball and steamed egg sides are essential...) The seafood potato pancake was much tastier and a better match than I expected—I was still thinking about it the next day~?
