Gimhae café for matcha cream coffee and lemon meringue: Peer a Peer

In short

Peer a Peer is a large café in Jillye, Gimhae, Gyeongnam, with a roomy parking lot, art displays, and a separate book-café area. My friend and I had a croissant lemon meringue, matcha schu-pener, and Kkosup Cream Latte while looking around the exhibits and photo spots. Verdict: a lovely place to linger over art, photos, and books.

A huge parking lot and ivory-and-black exterior

Visiting a café with a spacious parking area

I was looking for a café near my friend's house and ended up here, and the parking area was HUGE!? Since there was plenty of room, it was such a happy bit of luck for me, someone who's still not very confident at driving! 🍀

The weather was so nice today too—look at that skyㅠㅠ The clear sky and fluffy clouds put me in such a good mood! ☁️🩵

Café exterior with ivory and black accents

The ivory exterior with black accents made me so curious about what it would be like inside, haha.

Shall we go in and satisfy that curiosity now!? 🖤

Art displays and a book-café space inside a 40-year-old building

The ceiling inside wasn't especially high, but the black décor made everything feel really neat and polished! I heard Peer a Peer (피어어피어) is in a building that's about 40 years old!? They made use of that space and transformed it into such a pretty café! 🖤

And there were paintings displayed all around the café too!?

The café wasn't cramped, so it was quite fun walking around and checking out all the exhibited works!

In another area, there was a space where you could read books, almost like a book café! It might be noisy on weekends when there are lots of people, but when we visited on a weekday, it was fairly quiet, so it seemed nice for reading!? Since the space is separated off, it also felt peaceful enough to concentrate!

There were photo spots everywhere too... I think this is why I keep seeking out large cafés. It was so fun having art to look at, a dedicated lit-up photo zone for taking pictures, and a space to read—all in one café, haha.

Matcha schu-pener and croissant lemon meringue

Once we had finished looking around, I checked out the bakery selection to order something. There were so many different baked goods that this bread lover was stuck wondering what to get, but my friend and I chose the croissant lemon meringue, haha.

The counter was super spacious too, and so tidily arranged that it was very easy on the eyes 🥹

Here's the Peer a Peer menu :) We ordered a Kkosup Cream Latte and a matcha schu-pener!

Menu listing the Kkosup Cream Latte and matcha schu-pener

Our croissant lemon meringue, matcha schu-pener, and Kkosup Cream Latte arrived! First of all, they looked soooo pretty,, 🖤

The matcha schu-pener I had was matcha cream over a cold-brew Americano, and it was a little sweet!? I ordered it because I like matcha, but I was surprised by how well the matcha cream and cold brew went together, haha. My friend's Kkosup Cream Latte was, just as the name suggests, not overly sweet in the cream; the latte's nutty richness came through just as it was, so I thought they really named it well!

I thought the topping on the croissant lemon meringue was cream, but it was actually marshmallow!? It definitely gave me a sweet sugar boost! There was lemon cream inside, and the sweet marshmallow with the lemon cream made a sweet-and-tangy combination that I liked more than I expected! As someone who loves lemon, I could eat loads of that cream on its own too—it was tangy and delicious 😝

This is the muffin you get for writing a Naver review event post! Everyone, write one and try the mini muffin. It's nicely nutty and delicious 👍🏻

A spotless restroom and outdoor terrace

On the way out after eating, I stopped by the restroom, and even the way to it was so neat,, and then the restroom itself was neat too,, I always find it amazing when a large café has such a clean restroom. They must be busy, so I always wonder how they keep it this clean, haha.

Outdoor terrace and pampas-grass photo spot

There were seats on the outdoor terrace, plus pampas grass, so it seemed like it would make a great photo spot too! But I came out looking almost like a mess that day, so I resented how shabby I looked in the photos,, I was sad that, with all these photo spots, I couldn't get even one proper picture 🤢

Having visited Peer a Peer, I thought the vintage building with its modern interior gave it a distinctive feel. As you'd expect from a large café, there were lots of seats, so it would be great for groups too! It also seems perfect for a date: there are photo spots everywhere, and you can take pictures, browse art, and spend time reading books. I want to bring my fiancé next time, so I think I'll be back 🖤
