Craving dessert, I visited Hands Coffee Dongchon Resort Branch (핸즈커피 동촌유원지점). This time, I ordered an ice cream waffle and decaf Americanos, then sat on the rooftop where I could feel the cool evening breeze.
Where can you park and order?
The café is at 5-6 Hyodong-ro 6-gil in Dong-gu, Daegu, and has parking. It uses the second through fourth floors.
I ordered on the second floor. After looking over the waffles on display, I chose the ice cream waffle.
The ice cream served with the waffle was Häagen-Dazs, and I could choose the flavors. I picked vanilla and chocolate, and ordered one iced and one hot decaf Americano.
What were the evening rooftop seats and view like?
After ordering, I went up to the fourth-floor rooftop outdoor seating. With seating spread across several floors, it felt spacious, and the breeze made the evening I visited pleasantly cool.
The café also had a nice evening atmosphere when viewed from the outdoor seats. I looked around the rooftop for an empty table.
A seat with a good view opened up just then, so I sat down. From there, I could look out over Dongchon Resort.
Seeing this view, I thought it would make a nice date plan to rest at the café and then walk around the resort.
The Friday evening I visited was cool after rain, and I could see stars. It was a good time to enjoy the evening view with decaf coffee.
How did the decaf coffee and ice cream waffle taste?
I was told that even the decaf was brewed by drip. The coffee was closer to nutty than acidic, and I did not notice any burnt taste.
The waffle was crisp outside and moist inside. It came with the ice cream I chose and whipped cream; placing ice cream on the waffle made for a sweet, soft combination.
The chocolate ice cream was intensely sweet, with bits of chocolate to chew.
Vanilla paired better with the waffle. The chocolate had such a strong presence that I preferred eating it separately. Dipping the waffle into the generously served sweet whipped cream was also tasty.
I liked the combination of nutty coffee and sweet waffle. Still, having the waffle after dinner left me very full.
