I visited Shabu20 Daegu Bokhyeon branch (샤브20 대구복현점) for a weekday lunch with my child. Adults could have shabu-shabu, while my child could choose meat, vegetables, and food from the salad bar.

Where is it, and how much does a meal cost?

The restaurant is on the first floor at 79 Gonghang-ro, Buk-gu, Daegu. The original post listed its hours as 11:00–22:00, with last orders at 20:50. It also stated that parking for 30 cars was available around the restaurant.

Weekday lunch costs ₩22,900, while weekday dinner, weekends, and public holidays cost ₩26,900. Preschool children aged 36 months and over were listed at ₩5,900, and the child I brought, who was under 36 months, ate free. With unlimited meat and access to the salad bar at weekday lunch, I felt the price was reasonable for what was included.

Is it busy at weekday lunch?

There were many customers even during weekday lunch. Still, the restaurant was spacious and generally tidy, so it did not feel chaotically crowded.

There was a Tabling waitlist system at the entrance. Since it was this busy even on a weekday, I thought there could be a wait on weekends. The staff remained kind despite being busy, and during my visit, food at the salad bar was replenished quickly, so there was hardly any time when items were empty.

What were the broth and unlimited meat like?

That day, I chose katsuobushi broth and spicy broth. I considered the special broths, but tried the standard ones instead.

Both beef and pork were available with unlimited refills. There was also a wide variety of vegetables, and everything looked fresh overall.

After trying both, I preferred the beef slightly. The pork was also light and mild in shabu-shabu, without feeling too fatty, so I kept reaching for it.

What did I eat from the salad bar?

The salad bar was another part I had been looking forward to on this visit. Beyond the shabu-shabu ingredients, there were side dishes including dakgangjeong (sweet crispy Korean fried chicken), pad thai, cream pasta, and fried rice, so I could choose from a range of foods.

My spouse and I enjoyed the pad thai and dakgangjeong most. Both suited our tastes, so we went back for them several times.

After the shabu-shabu, we also made rice noodles and kalguksu (knife-cut noodles), then finished with juk (rice porridge). Unlimited draft beer was included as well.

Are there food options and amenities for children?

What I liked most about this meal was that there was plenty of food for my child to eat too. My child ate shabu-shabu meat and vegetables, as well as fried rice, fruit, and tteok (rice cakes).

There were high chairs and children's tableware, and even disposable bibs, which was convenient. There was also a smartphone stand. I remembered that they had prepared useful items for dining out with a child.

Can you take coffee and ice cream to go after the meal?

After the meal, coffee, drinks, and ice cream could be put into takeaway cups. We took some with us at the end as well.

After eating shabu-shabu, noodles, rice porridge, and dessert, I was very full. It was busy even on a weekday, but my family had a satisfying meal because both the adults and child could choose food to eat.
