Just from the outside it really felt like being in Japan haha. Luckily we visited after the lunch rush so there was no wait, but there were still quite a lot of people.

They make their own noodles and this place has even appeared on the TV show 'Master in the House' (생활의 달인), so I couldn't wait to try it.

Ordering at Kosi: the Naver review gift and the table setup

Ordering at Kosi wasn't complicated since the menu is divided into simple categories. For the review event, you can choose either a sweet potato korokke (fried croquette) or a drink, so leave a Naver photo review and grab the perk too 👍🏻🧾

Every table had salad sauce, pepper, sesame seeds, and shichimi (Japanese seven-spice) on hand, so it was easy to sprinkle on whatever you wanted 🧂🫙

Kosi's cold bukkake udon: how are the house-made noodles?

Kosi's tori tempura bukkake udon uses handmade noodles, and from the very first bite the springy, chewy texture came through — it was really fun to chew!! This was my first time trying cold udon, and the noodles' elasticity came through even more strongly, with a chewiness that filled my mouth in the best way 🍜

On top of that, the savory tsuyu (dipping sauce) added a salty yet clean flavor that came together harmoniously, so my chopsticks kept going back for more. It wasn't noodles and sauce separately — they were a perfect combo that brought out the best in each other >♡<

Half-and-half katsu, 13,500 won: eating it with salt and wasabi

Kosi's tonkatsu had a texture so crisp you could practically hear it crunch the moment you bit in. The thick-cut meat was moist and tender without any dryness, and the more I chewed, the more the juices came through subtly. At first I ate it with the sauce, but I ended up preferring it dipped in salt. The saltiness really brought out the savoriness of the meat and made it taste even better! My partner said eating it with wasabi was the best way for him 😋

The half-and-half katsu comes with a cheese katsu on the side, and the cheese pull was seriously a work of art 🧀 I recommend eating this one first before the cheese cools down ✨

The pork loin katsu paired so well with the udon 👍🏻👍🏻 I think I'd order tonkatsu and udon again if I come back haha.

Want a hot broth? Kosi's niku udon at 11,500 won

If you want a warm broth, go for the niku udon (beef udon)! Ordering udon at Kosi also gets you inari sushi (fried tofu pouch sushi) on the side, which was totally my type. The meat on top of the niku udon was so tender and delicious, and I just kept reaching for the broth ㅠ I know I shouldn't drink too much broth, but it was so good I kept scooping it up and ended up finishing the whole bowl, broth and all 😆

I also ate the side salad with sauce drizzled on it, and it was good for cutting through the richness in between bites 👍🏻

Is Kosi in Gwanak worth a visit? Final verdict

Great value and good taste for the price. If you can only order one menu item, I highly recommend the cold udon ✨ Would visit again ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
