A coworker recently asked me if I liked basil and told me about a restaurant that really nails basil dishes — that's how Gosh Gosh got stuck in my head. My husband and I finished up work in the morning and went, and I'm writing this review as a place I'm ★definitely coming back to, over and over★.

Where is Gosh Gosh by Seoul National University Station, and what is the space like?

Gosh Gosh is right at Exit 4 of Seoul National University Station, on the 1st floor of the Egg Yellow building, so it's super easy to find. Once you walk in, the space goes back much deeper than it looks from outside, and there are quite a lot of tables.👏

The seating is arranged well, so I saw all kinds of people, young and old, eating solo! (It's a really good spot for eating alone.)

We sat near the entrance where the natural light was great. I was really, really into the green chopsticks and the just-right-sized spoon.🤍

Ordering at the table kiosk: what the couple got and what it cost

You can order right away at the kiosk on each table. The menu descriptions were well written, so it was easy to take your time browsing and choosing.😊

Right at that hungry lunchtime slot. We ordered and kept glancing around wondering when it would come out.🥹🥹

First, take a look at the whole spread — 👏👏

How does the toowoomba demi-glace tonkatsu with karaage taste?

The toowoomba demi-glace tonkatsu came out first, and it was really delicious. I immediately thought, I have to come back for this-!🙌

Plate of toowoomba demi-glace tonkatsu topped with sauce
There's a reason it's known for tonkatsu.👍

It's subtly spicy, and with the cream in it, personally it gave off curry vibes too! (I wish they sold the sauce separately...ㅠㅠㅠㅠ)

The tonkatsu's breading was crispy too, and the meat thickness was just right. It's frustrating that photos can't fully capture it~~🔥

We dipped the added karaage generously into the sauce and enjoyed every bite.💖

This is the toowoomba tonkatsu with karaage. It feels like Gosh Gosh's own special sauce, not something you can easily find elsewhere.

After a spread like this, we felt full and satisfied all the way through dinner. 😊

Is the signature basil soba at Gosh Gosh for everyone?

Gosh Gosh's signature dish is the basil soba, ₩12,900. It's introduced as [SIGNATURE] a fantastic meeting of fresh noodles at a golden ratio developed over 3 years of research, and basil🌿 — and it really lives up to that.

Gosh Gosh: Basil soba

I'd been really, really curious about this basil soba-! I'd read reviews saying it's a love-it-or-hate-it dish so I hesitated a bit, but for my taste it was a total 'yes yes yes yes yes yes.'🌿

A strangely addictive basil soba

I usually love basil pesto, and the chopped scallions on top were so fragrant that it felt like eating a genuinely healthy meal.

I really love a runny egg, so I mixed just the top part in and ate it nice and rich. (My personal taste.)

Because the noodles are green, the first bite or two had me thinking 'huh? what flavor is this?' — but strangely, by the third bite I was just inhaling it..!

Basil soba served with wasabi

Partway through it felt a little bland, so I added the wasabi that came with it, and — oh, that's a whole different flavor!!! — I ended up enjoying it all the way to the end.😊

The small details, right down to the hot noodle water

The warm water that came with the meal seemed to be noodle water, and it wasn't bland at all — warm and just right to sip between bites :) It made me feel like Gosh Gosh pays attention down to the smallest details.👍💯
