Parking at this Cheongdeok-dong Chinese restaurant is free, and there's a baby chair and corkage available too.

You can park in the lot in front of Doseogwan Dwitjip or use the space out back — it's a very parking-friendly spot with no hassle. If it happens to be full, the nearby public lots or the Techno Valley underground parking give the first hour free, so nearby buildings should work fine too.

What does Doseogwan Dwitjip look like inside?

True to its name — Doseogwan Dwitjip literally means 'behind the library' — the restaurant has all kinds of books inside. It felt like a great place to bring kids too, since you get good food and books in one spot, which might get them closer to reading, haha.

The unlimited rice self-serve bar at Doseogwan Dwitjip

This place is already a hot Chinese restaurant in Yongin, so even as lunchtime was winding down there were still a lot of people. It's great for eating alone in Yongin, so there were plenty of solo diners, and since it's also a popular spot for family gatherings in Giheung-gu, there were group tables too. The self-serve bar had pickled radish, onion, and kimchi, and since the rice is unlimited, you can make yourself jjajang rice or pile on plenty of jjamppong rice if you like.

I went with these recommended menu items. With so many solo set options, this really felt like a great spot for eating solo in Yongin.

Sugar-free special-sauce glutinous-rice tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork)

I started with the tangsuyuk. I wondered what the owner's special sauce would taste like — turns out there's no sugar in it at all! It came out wet-style (sauce poured over) and the texture was really chewy. A little salad came on top, which paired well with the pork in each bite.

Old-style jjajang with quail eggs

You can't skip jjajangmyeon (black bean noodles) at a Chinese restaurant in Giheung-gu. There seemed to be less sauce than I expected at first, but the sauce had already soaked well into the noodles, so it was very easy to eat. There were quail eggs too, which went nicely with the noodles, and the portion was generous.

Doseogwan Dwitjip also sells spicy jjajang and hot plate jjajang, so next time I'd like to try more of their signature dishes. With solo sets available, you can also happily enjoy the spicy jjajang and tangsuyuk set all by yourself.

Soft tofu jjamppong rice and the other jjamppong options

Next up was the soft tofu jjamppong rice. Being a well-known spot for jjamppong in Yongin, there are plenty of options, so jjamppong lovers might have a hard time deciding. I'd love to try the aged smoked jjamppong and spicy jjamppong next time too. Doseogwan Dwitjip is also famous as a go-to spot for office workers in Yongin, and with the industrial complex and offices nearby, I saw a lot of them dining there.

Can you book Doseogwan Dwitjip for a group?

Doseogwan Dwitjip can be rented out for groups in Yongin — reportedly available every Monday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for up to 20 people. It'd be great to gather everyone at this Chinese restaurant and enjoy jjajangmyeon, jjamppong, and tangsuyuk together.

On my way out I noticed a little fortune booklet and flipped it open, and the answer was so funny. Well, it's a positive message either way, so I'll take it as a good sign, haha.
