Euljiro makchang restaurant: Friday night patio and somaek at Baegyeom
In short
Baegyeom Makchang Euljiro Main Branch is a Daegu makchang (grilled intestines) restaurant near Exits 11 and 12 of Euljiro 3-ga Station in Jung-gu, Seoul. On a Friday after work, the writer ordered 2 servings of Daegu makchang at ₩17,000 and 1 serving of seasoned makchang at ₩18,000, eaten with scallion kimchi, makjang dipping paste and salt. The Daegu makchang at Baegyeom Makchang was nutty and tender with no gamey smell, making Baegyeom Makchang a recommended spot for makchang and somaek (soju mixed with beer) in Euljiro.

What is Baegyeom Makchang in Euljiro 3-ga like on a Friday night?
Baegyeom Makchang (백염막창) is a Daegu makchang restaurant about a 1-minute walk (maybe?..) from Exit 11 or 12 of Euljiro 3-ga Station. Haha, it's super close. On a Friday after work, a friend who was craving offal and I went to Baegyeom, a well-known makchang spot in Euljiro 3-ga. Euljiro is always packed on Fridays!

How the Catch Table waiting list works at Baegyeom Makchang
Baegyeom was so, so crowded on Friday. Wow. Maybe it's an Euljiro hotspot only we didn't know about? There was even a wait that started after we took the last seat!? Oh, and you register for the wait with Catch Table. There's a Catch Table machine in front of the restaurant.

And we were super lucky to get a seat like this, an outdoor street-stall style spot! Daegu makchang at an outdoor table on a Friday night~~ The drinks are going to go down so easily. (I have plans from 12 noon tomorrow so I should only drink a little, but,, will I?)

Baegyeom Makchang menu and prices
At Baegyeom we ordered 2 servings of Daegu makchang (₩17,000). It's unusual that they have tomato basil ramyeon as a side! I was curious about the salted seafood fried rice and the kimchi noodles too, but we didn't get to try them,,,

What side dishes come with makchang at Baegyeom Makchang?
The side dishes come out before the makchang. You can wrap things in perilla leaves, and there's scallion kimchi, makjang (seasoned soybean paste), and Cheongyang chili with green onion.

Oh, I'd read in reviews that the scallion kimchi was good, and it really was incredibly good. The kind of scallion kimchi I think would even go well with jjapaghetti (black bean instant noodles). As the how-to-eat-it instructions say, pile lots of green onion and Cheongyang chili into the makjang-

Is Baegyeom Makchang good for team dinners, groups and dates?
Cheers with somaek (soju mixed with beer) for the first time in a rea-lly long time!! With the music playing, Baegyeom has a great atmosphere for drinking. The inside was completely full so I couldn't take photos, but it looks good for an Euljiro company dinner or a group gathering. Of course, plenty of people were there on dates like us too.

How does the Daegu makchang at Baegyeom Makchang taste?
Baegyeom's Daegu makchang comes as plump makchang served with salt. We got 2 servings. The salt is served underneath, which is probably why it's called "Baegyeom" (white salt) makchang!! It's already pre-grilled, but the staff explained that you should grill it until crispy.

The Daegu makchang turned golden brown. The nutty smell wafting up made me hungry. And you know that green onion grilled crispy like that turns sweet and delicious.

Dipped in the salt it came with, the makchang is nutty and tasty,

and dipped in makjang, or rolled up with scallion kimchi, it's so good too. The makchang itself had no gamey smell and was nutty and tender, so it was delicious. There wasn't a single tough part. Personally, I liked it dipped in the makchang sauce better than in salt!

Adding seasoned makchang at Baegyeom Makchang
The seasoned makchang at Baegyeom is ₩18,000 per serving, and it comes fully grilled so you can eat it right away. We added 1 serving.

Sweet and spicy, the kind of flavor Koreans tend to love. Eaten with the shredded onion on top plus the dipping sauce, there's no spiciness at all, just rich seasoning.

At Baegyeom you can order the makchang vertical, horizontal or upside down. I ordered horizontal, and the staff member really did bring it horizontal. The next table ordered upside down, haha. It's not-so-secretly hard to stand upside down looking ones up.

Is Baegyeom Makchang worth it for Daegu makchang in Euljiro 3-ga?
We finished up by eating a Polo (mint candy)>,< Baegyeom Makchang in Euljiro 3-ga is my recommendation for Daegu makchang in Euljiro. Hours are daily 15:00-24:00.
