Pangyo tonkatsu date night: loin katsu in curry sauce at Katsu Shokudo
In short
Katsu Shokudo Pangyo Main Branch is a Japanese tonkatsu restaurant on the B1 floor of Alphadom Tower 3 by Pangyo Station in Seongnam, Gyeonggi. On a visit for two, the signature loin katsu arrived with both a handmade tonkatsu sauce and a curry sauce for dipping, served alongside a kimchi katsu nabe with a sharp, spicy broth. The crisp-outside, juicy-inside cutlet and the kimchi broth both landed well, and a return visit to Katsu Shokudo is already planned.

I went looking for a proper Japanese tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) spot near Pangyo Station. This place is already famous among office workers as a lunch favorite and after-work dinner spot — my boyfriend went once while working late and said it was so good, so we visited together!
This is a tonkatsu specialist that nails the crispy-outside, juicy-inside texture perfectly. Everything on the menu was so satisfying — here's my review of Katsu Shokudo Pangyo Main Branch.
Where is Katsu Shokudo Pangyo Main Branch, and where do you park?
Katsu Shokudo Pangyo Main Branch is located at 152 Pangyoyeok-ro, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, in the basement level of Alphadom Tower 3. It's open daily from 11:20 AM to 9:30 PM, and parking is free for up to 3 hours within Alphadom Tower.

Katsu Shokudo Pangyo Main Branch sits right in the heart of Pangyo Techno Valley and is very close to Pangyo Station, making it ideal for a lunch break or an evening get-together. With up to 3 hours of free parking in Alphadom Tower, it's also easy to visit by car.

The exterior was clean and tidy, and the number of ribbon awards displayed caught my eye 👀 There are 3 Red Ribbons from 2024–2026, and a whopping 7 Blue Ribbons from 2020–2026.
Inside Katsu Shokudo: bar seats that work for solo diners
The interior of Katsu Shokudo Pangyo Main Branch has a wood-finished design with a bar table plus tables for 2 and 4 people. Thanks to the bar table, you don't feel self-conscious eating alone here.

Stepping through the entrance, the clean wood interior gives a warm, cozy feel. Everything from the softly lit bar table to the tables for 2 and 4 is thoughtfully arranged. Because of the bar table, you can eat comfortably alone without feeling out of place at all.

The tables were spaced generously, so it was nice to chat while eating. The overall space is on the larger side, so it never felt cramped and stayed comfortable throughout.
What two people ordered: loin katsu and kimchi katsu nabe

We ordered Katsu Shokudo's signature loin katsu (rosu katsu) and the kimchi katsu nabe, known for its appealing spicy broth. Each came as a neat full spread with side dishes, rice and soup — clean and truly appetizing.

How does the kimchi katsu nabe taste?
The kimchi katsu nabe (kimchi hot pot with pork cutlet) had a wonderful pairing of tangy, spicy broth and tonkatsu — a flavor almost anyone would love. The bubbling stone pot with well-fermented kimchi broth topped with a thick slice of katsu looked absolutely amazing 🫶🏻

The cool, tangy kimchi broth perfectly cut through the richness of the tonkatsu, so it never felt heavy, and the breading — soaked in broth — turned soft and moist, melting in my mouth. The deep umami of the well-fermented kimchi had soaked all the way into the meat, making it even tastier.

The spicy, deep broth in particular was so refreshing that I kept going back for more. It was good enough that I wanted to mix in rice and eat it that way.

What comes with the signature loin katsu and its curry sauce
The loin katsu — Katsu Shokudo's signature dish that really shows off their fundamentals! Like the kimchi katsu nabe, it came as a full set on a tray: thick-cut loin katsu, cabbage salad, rice, miso soup, handmade tonkatsu sauce, wasabi, curry sauce, and other basic side dishes.

The breading wasn't thick but stayed crispy, and the meat had a slightly pink hue while holding onto its juices ✨ The moment I bit in, the nutty, clean flavor unique to loin filled my mouth — it was so good I was genuinely surprised.

Eating it with the curry sauce that came alongside was a fresh, well-matched combination, and of course it went great with the handmade tonkatsu sauce too. Being able to enjoy it in different ways made it really fun.

The fat-to-lean ratio was perfect, so it wasn't dry at all — soft and satisfying the whole way through. The portion was generous too, so we ate until we were completely full haha
